Socal Pro field update

I recently visited Rubicon's "Pro" field to drop off more trees and props and to do some field testing.
The reason this is being called the Professional field is because it is being designed for maximum effectiveness and equal sides of fighting positions and terrain and cover.
The fighting positions are designed for cover from some angles but not all, so that tanks cannot bunker during an entire battle and are forced to move and maneuver around as the enemy advances across the field.
Its not finished yet, there is still a large cache of trees stockpiled as well as buildings that are in development etc.

I have twice as many trees up now Rich then when you were here.

Its been a slow process but getting the field "right" with a nice balance of terrain types, hills, ditches, bridges, riverbed, 500+ trees (and counting), boulders, obstacles, lights (for night battling) and more is proving a hand full.

The "Pro Serial" nick name came along because what is being built will require the operator and tank to have a more then basic level of driving/fighting skill and tank durability. The field does not favor any one size of tank so regardless of small, medium or large all will have a fair chance.

What the field does favor are tanks with above average barrel depressions and Tamiya IR receivers. The combination of both allows for very effective "hull down" firing from the many hills and ditches. This was done to "even the odds" when battling Tamiya control systems vs Heng Long control systems.

I am hoping everything will be completely done by at latest mid March so I can start letting the SoCal clubs use the field. It is available now more so for limited test and evaluation purposes, not for actual battle events.

That's really impressive. May I ask what that box is that is mounted on top of the barrel at the turret?

That is the "spotlight / IR light) some early model M60s had.

Its the standard M60 series spot light used on the M60 M60a1 M60a2 and M60a3 as well as the early M1 Abrams

Field looks real nice and you guys get to use it all year round unlike ours👍

Where I live it would be more like the Eastern Front, in springtime. All year round. The rain just gets warmer in summer.
