Years ago, I painted my M26 with Model Master FS34087 Olive Drab. Fast forward to today, Model Master is no longer available. I'm putting on metal wheels and suspension. So, I'm looking for something close to paint the metal parts with.

I added barrel recoil feature to a M26 Pershing and a M4A3 Sherman, both of which have the plastic barrel molded as part of the mantle. I used Heng Long tank specific "metal barrel recoil BB shooting kits". It is easier than building my DIY servo recoil and the result is pretty good. The Pershing metal barrel is painted in a brownish olive drab which is different from the dark green olive drab on the 2005 Pershing. The Sherman barrel is bare tuned aluminum. My last step is to get both painted to the matching Heng Long tank color.
I applied 3 coats of Kryton Colormax Italian Olive. Don't apply model paint to aluminum directly because of poor adhesion. Then, I brushed on a layer of Tamiya Xf-58 Olive Green. It is still more greenish than I would like, but the flat finish is much more flat than the Kryton spray paint. Thus, a better match to the HL olive green color.

I was going to say, I ended up ordering some from a company online that still had stock after they discontinued it, but I just checked and they are now out of stock. There are some places that list it under Testors and not Model Masters (I know Testors made it).
I heard good things about MCW paints so I ordered some a while back. I'm going to try them out. If I had the time I could spray them out to compare, but this week is bad for me as I'm studying for a certification exam.

It even says, "New from MCW Finishes is Olive Drab FS34087 Enamel. This is part of our new line of enamels to replace the discontinued Testors Model Master."
