  • Summer project, 1/6 scale Jagdpanther

So I totally lucked out and acquired a used 1/6 scale Mark One RC jagdpanther and I'm putting it back in running order. I started this a couple months ago so this first video is right after I got it and shows what I have in mind

This second video is the first update, done today, after getting it on the bench and figgerin' out what's what. I think I have things well sorted and just need to do the work. Had a bit of a problem with tracks at first, but that's all sorted and along the way I figgered out how to make my own 1/6 scale track pins in steel. Right now it's ready for it's first outdoor test, hopefully tomorrow, and naturally I'll get video. Be back after the test.

Note: This thread is also posted at RCU, and to go off topic for just a second, one of the things about youtube that really irritates me is that they make me watch commercials before I can watch my own videos. I posted it, they're selling advertising space and making money off me, but I still can't watch a video I posted without being subjected to commercials first. Not sure why that irritate me so much, but IT DOES!!

Project canceled. The tracks just have too much zinc rot and every time I replace a link, 2 more break. There comes a time when you have to quit beating a Dead Horse and just give up, and that's where I'm at right now. I no longer have enough good links to put together a full track on the left, so I'll strip it for any parts that might be usable in the future and the rest goes into the bin.

I wonder if 3D printing could make tracks, like are made all the time for 1/16 scale tanks?
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

I would price out tracks off of like PCBWay in metal or industrial nylon. There are some forums for larger vehicles, maybe they have some other ideas. 3D printed tracks is an option as I printed my 1/6th KV-1 tracks. The Warprints Cromwell in 1/6th runs off 3D printed tracks.
