  • Tank Hauler for my M5 Stuart

You may have seen the trailer rig in the M5 thread, but I thought I'd give it its own thread. Here's the rig

and now three different sets of tires I'm trying to choose from. First is stock

and these are the 3D printed dual wheel rims

and finally the very expensive metal rims with rubber tires

Personally I'm leaning towards the second set shown, the 3D printed wheels, but I'd really like to know what you guys think.

The "metal rims with rubber tires" look best to me.

They are good lookin', no bout adoubt it, and expensive, like 60 bucks for this set. That's more than a Q-60 was at the time But without the combat tread? It's supposed to be a WWII truck. But the metal rimmed tires are definitely better performing than the TPU. That's flexible, but a bit on the hard side so you may be right that the rubber tires are the best option. TPU might not get the grip I'll need, especially in loose dirt or something hard and smooth like a gym floor. I'll have to do some road testing. I'll try to get video.

And here's one with the M5 loaded, tracks present and accounted for, and since this photo I attached all the doodads like grab irons. Better to paint those now, too.

        Now to get everything painted.

BTW, the electronics that come with the tractor vehicle (MTV from now on??) will support a two speed transmission, and I just happen to have a couple somewhere ...

The 3D printed wheels really give a great scale look to it. I'm surprised no company has offered that type of tire and rim as an accessory. I think they would sell out all they could produce.
