Henglong Sherman BB Firing Issue

Good evening all,

Hoping someone would be able to pass some knowledge along.

I am lucky enough to have a Sherman tank, although believe the firing mechanism is jammed.

i have taken the turret apart (with majority of help found in these forums, hence why I joined here :) )

Although still not able to remove the unit.
could someone assist in what I’m doing wrong?

appreciate all help, just don’t want to go caveman on it!

You have to also remove the mantle. After which the assembly will come out of the turret.

For the Sherman, the mantlet is held in place by the turret sides, with tabs. Simply spread the turret sides until one side of the mantlet comes free and it's done. Don't be afraid to spread the turret sides, just don't overdo it!



There may be other attachment screws for the BB feed, I don't recall, but it's the mantlet that is non-intuitive.

I went through the process that @SoCalBobS described when I replaced the Sherman barrel with a HL Sherman metal barrel recoil and BB shooting unit. It is a bit tricky to bend out the thick plastic turret sides. Just be careful as @SoCalBobS said.

Older Heng Long tanks have this mantlet mounting arrangement. It is very secure but difficult to change. I have done that on the Pershing and the Sherman without breaking the turret. Cheers.

BTW, get a new BB unit with recoil. Don't try to repair the old one. Old BB unit has very weak spring and can barely shoot. Newer ones are much better.

Hey guys thanks for the heads up.

Presumed the additional screws I else needed to come off a different way, but with a bit of encouragement all is good.

Well, will be when I find the rubber sleeve that is in the grass somewhere.

That rubber sleeve is critical. It holds the pellet in place until the spring bolt flies forward and hits it. Hope you find it.
