I looked online everywhere for a new shaft and gear, but at the time I couldn't find anything, and it was especially hard being in Australia where we are limited for spare parts.
So I tried a few things. First up was to roughen up the splined area with a Dremel and hope that the burring would be enough so that the gear would fit tight again. No it didn't.
I then tried cutting a groove longitudinally in the shaft and in the gear, and hopefully drive a pin into it, much like a woodruff key. That didn't work either after spending about an hour trying to get a pin into it.
So, after some thought, I put a magnet to the shaft and to the gear and realized their compatibility.
That was it. I switched on my cheap Mig welder and gave it a go. It worked beautifully!

PS. Thanks for the above link. I never came across that one when I was searching online.

I came across this website in my Google search, and cut a long story short, I started my new hobby.

Over the coming days I will post up the tanks I now have in this thread, but I'll start right now with how my little collection is now after two years.
It took me a while to figure out the best way how I wanted to display my tanks.....

        Cheers, Dan.
Must acquire a PZ III to protect the flank of those big ''Cats'' 😁

Yes I have been waiting for a Panzer III for the right price.
As you can imagine, there are not too many choices here in Australia, even from Toucan or one of their so called other names they use on Ebay.

Many plastic model and RC model sellers in Hong Kong can ship to Australia quickly at relatively low shipping charge. Try DKLMRC.com.

Toucan Hobby stock for many independent e-bay sellers in China. These sellers price agressively for repeated customer, but shipping from China is more expensive than from Hong Kong.

I see that Henglong have a couple of Panzer IIIs. Is there a preference which one to get?
I have looked at overseas sellers. The problem is that our dollar is very low, then the Govt decided some years ago that we have to pay tax on anything we buy from overseas, plus the freight, plus tax on the freight...... Sometimes it's just easier to buy here and know exactly what we are paying instead of getting a shock at the end of it all when the dollar conversion and taxes etc come up.

I understand that money is a concern, but the taigen Pz 3 is far, far superior to the heng long. Metal tub, torsion bar suspension, etc, etc.

OzArmour are OK with parts, but not for complete tanks.

Another thing I have to consider, is that the BB shooting system have to be disabled because of Australian law, so retail outlets need to comply.
But..... the tanks which come from the Toucan warehouse have somehow by-passed this law and come with working gun.
The seven I have bought new from Toucan and any of their other names they use on Ebay have come complete with BB's working.

Sorry. I forget Hong Kong is no longer a member of the Commonwealth.

Taigen Tanks has the PzIII in IR, but they are more expensive and I'm not sure if they ship to Australia. I have two brand new IR PzIIIs right now that I would be happy to sell you one of but the shipping to Australia would definitely kill that deal.

Yep, BB guns, gel blasters, replica guns banned in most states of Australia.

One thing I very much do like on this old tank is the engine fire up and running sounds. So much better than on my v7.0 tanks.
I will use it just as a static model.
                              Hello,
For some reasons your TIGER I tank in dark yellow intrigued me to see the least.
He stand out of the pack!😎
Did you paint it yourself,.. and more precisely wich Dunkelgelb variant it is?
Look like to me a mid-war RAL7028 light variant. (but i could be wrong).
                              cheers!!

That's how I bought it second hand from a friend. He only bought it himself only a few weeks earlier, but didn't really want it, so I stepped in.
I bought it off him because I liked the color scheme and someone has spent quite a bit of time doing it. I have no idea what scheme it is, but it's pretty cool.
The electronics are old, so I doubt it will be used much and is basically a static model.

Got my new Panzer III on Wednesday.
Pretty happy so far after spending a little time on it this morning for the Afrika Korps.
