Having problems with my Tongde control board and it was mentioned to me that I can replace with Heng long which some feel is a better board.

Will the Heng Long 7.0 or 7.1 work as a replacement for Tongde 2.0?

Yes, any HL radio later than TK-6 will work with the Tongde RC tank. The HL are functionally equivalent and has longer control range. You must replace both the transmitter and the MFU together.Originally posted by DennisH View PostHaving problems with my Tongde control board and it was mentioned to me that I can replace with Heng long which some feel is a better board.
I use a TK-6.0S transmitter and MFU on the Tongde M60A1. It replaced the TDX2 radio because I want the longer range. The HL TK-6.0S became available when I upgrade the Leopard 2A6 to servo recoil and TK-7.1, The Tongde changeover is very easy because the 2 MFU are plug compatible.

Or you can wait to get the Tongde 3.0 board and install it in. I plan to do that for my early Tongde tanks.SoCal RC Tank Club Facebook Group

Issues are popping up with the TD 3s. One big one is their range is limited to ~1/3 that of the 7s. Better to stick with 7.0 / 7.1HL systems still.Originally posted by DavidN View PostOr you can wait to get the Tongde 3.0 board and install it in. I plan to do that for my early Tongde tanks.

How is the TDX3 improved over the TDX2? The TDX2 is pretty comparable to TK-7's in feature and driving quality.Originally posted by Rubicon99 View PostIssues are popping up with the TD 3s. One big one is their range is limited to ~1/3 that of the 7s. Better to stick with 7.0 / 7.1HL systems still.

It has the servo ports activated, is more IR compatible with both HL and Tamiya. It's also supposed to have slightly higher grade of electronic durability(?). There are some driving algorithms changes that appear to have been done as well. It's reportedly smoother driving, but that is subjective because every tank drives differently and it is only out in a few tanks (no in M60s yet).Originally posted by keilau View PostHow is the TDX3 improved over the TDX2? Its about equal in the level of changes that HL made going from the 6.0 to 7.0 (6:1 ot 7.1).
Reports from those that have them are mixed so far. They are still too new and too few to make any solid conclusions. The best bet if changing MFUs is to go with the proven HL 7.0/7.1 systems as these are at present very reliable.

The TK7.1 will cost you over $60

If servo recoil is NOT in your plan, the TK7.0 works perfectly fine and will save you some dollars.

I share 3 HL 7.0 transmitters among 6 HL tanks, both TK7.0 and TK7.1. Just watch the binding process when switching them on.
