  • Awesome service from Alan at Toucan

I think it’s important to let people know when a company goes above and beyond. I have been in RC for 30+ years
Warranties are not always easy to claim or even honored.

Big shoutout to Toucan, after 1 message, they sent me the gearset to a blown transmission. When the wrong one came they immediately sent the correct one. This should be normal and it’s not necessarily. Some companies want a DNA sample.

My Abrams blew a transmission on pack 20+
not surprised but a bit disappointed. It runs on 11.1v but not hard. I actually think the tracks may have been too tight.

Well, I’m back up and running at no additional cost.
glad to deal with Toucan anytime

I guess I'm curious why you are using the 1/56 ratio (slower) gearbox in the Abrams and then using it on 3S? I think it would make more sense to run the faster 1/39 gearbox at the regular 7.4V? Just curious. I have 3 or 4 sets of those gearboxes in my tanks and never blown one up like that, but I use the slower ones in my WW2 tanks and the faster ones in my modern stuff.

Only real issue I ever had with Toucan was them sending me a Challenger II that had literally been floating in a flooded New jersey warehouse, the tank itself managed to stay dry so I took a $15 credit and called it good, bought 3 tanks since and numerous parts with zero issues.

Probably got a discount on the transmissions on fleabay during the build process. Quite often I put something in my cart and wait for a discount code that follows a few days after.
It’s the only larger tank I have, so I can’t compare, but it’s very stable, with fantastic slow speed control. Some will remember, I took out the crap Chinese motors and replaced with much stronger Holmes Hobbies motors. It’s a Torque monster. It’ll probably just remain a hard to describe feeling driving it. I definitely don’t need more top speed it’s too heavy, and love having all the torque and track control I could ever want. With the additional bonus of low motor temperatures I’m really happy with this combo.
I’m sure it was a rock/ tight tread issue, regardless it’s fixed and out patrolling.
