Heng Long pershing

I am new to this and just got the Heng Long US m26 Pershing tank for Christmas. So what upgrades are worth doing and what are a waste. I see there are different gearboxes and drive motors avaliable, but which are better then other? And help would be appreciated.

First question is what version did you get? The all plastic or the plastic with some metal upgrades like tracks and wheels?

This will better help us direct you to what is and is not needed.

Rubicon is correct, but I can attest that the Taigen 3 to 1 gear set with 390 motors is the best upgrade for this tank. Don't waste money on metal tracks or wheels. Take out the inside track follower if that is what it is called as it will collect dirt and throw the track. Rubicon recommended this and it works. Great first tank. Very dependable. Get a LegoDEI receiver and IR bulb set. Get a better battery too

You are talking about the sprockets guide tooth retaining rings. Yes removing the inside ring helps a lot with keeping the sprockets from "clogging up" and causing a "de-track".

You got a decent little machine for a first tank, good runner, good lookin, the perfect beast to suck you down the rabbit hole.

Operational upgrade routes have been covered by others, youtube is a well spring of visual to enhance what you learn here as well, and if you're not sure what you're looking at is what you need specifically, check here before ordering and they can clarify and recommend. And remember, there are more shades of olive drab than there shades of gray.
