  • Diesel sounding M1 Abrams?

    Hey everyone.
I just bought the HL M1 Abrams upgraded version and discovered it has a diesel start up sound instead of the turbine. What's that all about?

That's a bad decision made by Heng Long to change their sound sets from 4 down to 2 on each board. One board comes with Abrams/Leopard 2A6 sound set and the other comes with a T90/Tiger sound set. Have you tried both sound sets on the board? I think it's by pressing the G and K button at the same time.

Heng Long thinks that the customer is too stupid to know what an Abrams sounds like so the don't really pay attention to making sure the Abrams gets the Abrams sound set.

The Abrams M1A1 does not have auto loader, therefore, the TK-7.0 MFU works fine. It is much cheaper than the TK-7.1. The challenge is to find a seller who understands the difference between the sound of a diesel engine vs. a gas turbine. Let us know how you solve the problem.

Start your tank, press G & K buttons simultaneously, tank will shut down, start it again, you should have the turbine sound, if not they shipped the tank with the wrong controller, kind of common, not sure what MRCs policies are but Toucan did that with mine, they just sent methe correct one and said keep the old one.

Thanks all! The G/K buttons did the trick! I was seriously considering sending it back just because of the diesel sound.

A lot of folks have especially when they put the wrong board in them that doesn't have the Abrams sound on it.

Make that two page manual your bible. There is a ton of good info in it, it just takes a bit of thought to see what they mean. I have over 25 tanks, and I'm still finding things I didn't know I could do.
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Don't forget there is a pretty good list of adjustments inside the lid of the battery compartment on the 7.0 controllers........
