The M36 Tank Destroyer, nicknamed "Jackson", was a highly effective American armored vehicle during World War II. Designed to counter heavily armored German tanks like the Panther and Tiger, the M36 was armed with the powerful 90mm M3 gun, capable of penetrating thick armor at long ranges. This gun gave it a significant edge over earlier U.S. tank destroyers, such as the M10, which were outmatched by the firepower of advanced German tanks.

The M36 was based on the chassis of the M10 but featured a turret with sloped armor for improved protection and an open top, which allowed for greater visibility but exposed the crew to enemy fire and weather. The vehicle was powered by a Ford GAA V8 gasoline engine, offering reasonable mobility for its size.

First deployed in late 1944, the M36 proved instrumental during the Battle of the Bulge, where its superior firepower helped turn the tide against German armored assaults. Post-war, the M36 saw service in conflicts like the Korean War and was exported to other nations. Combining firepower, mobility, and reliability, the M36 became one of the most respected tank destroyers of its era.

Mato tanks are the ultimate expression of 1/16 scale, all-metal, handcrafted RC tank models. I have one of these. The metal surface is great for painting, giving it that true metal appearance.

The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!
