  • IR troubles

    Hello,
I got my tank up and running again. Went to play some IR with my son, and noticed that none of my shots ever landed! Of course he kicked my butt after that.

We checked and did some testing and it seems like my IR doesn’t fire at all or something. Very strange!

I disconnected the IR emitter from the 360 slip ring and plugged it in directly to the new 7.0 board. Even then no IR firing. Am I missing something? IR emitter IS on channel 15 right?

    What system re you running?
First thing to chekc is if one of the wires came off your ir bulb.
If nut and it still doesn’t fire, maybe you have the plug in backwards, swap it’s polarity.
if it still wo t fire, your led is bad. Replace it.

It's possible that the IR receiver on you sons tank in bad. Also the stock receivers are intended for indoor use only so if you were outdoors chances are the IR beam was "washed out" and so not able to be read by the receiver.

If you want to test if your IR LED is firing, fire up your cell phone camera, point it at the IR LED, and fire the gun. It will light up purple on your phone camera if it's working. If you are using a 6.x or a 7.x system in both tanks, it will work fine. If one of the tanks has a system older than the 6.x, the old system will not work with the newer 6.x and 7.x control boards. The older HL boards used a proprietary HL IR protocol and the newer boards use a standard compatible with the Tamiya IR protocol.
