  • Issue with Heng long tiger 1

    Hello!
I have a Heng Long Tiger 1 plastic version and I've decided to upgrade the plastic gearbox to a metal one. However, now the tank shuts off after a few seconds when I try to drive forward or backward. I’m not sure what’s causing this issue. I tried reattaching the plastic gears, but the problem persists. Initially, I connected the motor cables incorrectly, which caused the wheels to spin backward. I'm still using the stock battery, and I noticed a faint burning smell from the main board. Could I have short-circuited something?

It's possible you short circuited something, but the motor wires being the wrong way wouldn't have done it as it doesn't matter on a reversible DC motor which wire is on which pole. It's possible you damaged the battery somehow. A lot of times a battery will read with the right voltage and then cut out as soon as a load is put on it. I would try a different battery before a different motherboard. The motherboard has two ESC circuits on it. Typically if you damage an ESC (electronic speed controller), it blows the power MOSFETs. A blown MOSFET would mean the ESC would be completely dead.
