Tongde M60A1 ERA parts compatibility with henglong RC tanks

I have 3 Tongde M60's in various configs, all ver3, that I had the pleasure of serving with during my time in W.Germany from 1975 to 1982. Many thanks to Rich Johnson for his expertise and parts my tanks are more period correct. I mut also thank Rubicon and SoCalBob for their expert input and advise to the RC community, Thank you guys. I have no RC Tank interest to go to in South Carolina like what's in Cali.

Now I have an issue with the turret gearbox I need help with. I need a new gearbox and possibly a turret ring for my A1 ERA. I can't find Tondge parts. Will Henglong turret gearbox work? Metal or plastic along with a metal gear ring?

The turret rotation gear box is same as henglong and you can get a 7 version from motion. I’ve replaced a couple on my or customer tanks that were glitchy. Some are good but earlier ones sometimes were loud or just crazy slow due to motor choice.

what is wrong with your turret ring gear?
Those are not available as the TD is not compatible with any other brand.

nothing. The turret gear seems to be fine. It's just the gearbox that want to skip or has dead spots. I took it apart and reassembled it, powered it up by itself, and it seemed to work fine. When I installed the gearbox back on tank tried it again and it skipped again. No obstructions between turret and body, ring seems to be ok. Had me thinking a metal gearbox and ring might do the trick. I did see the spare part Motion has.

The Heng Long turret ring gears are not compatible with the TongDE. If you do need the turret gear it is available through Toucan. I had lost the turret rotation gear for my M60A2 build and I bought a replacement from Toucan Hobby:

****or**** if you look-up "Tongde gear" on the US Ebay site, it will find all the different sizes for their tanks.

Have you made sure there are no wires getting caught in the turret gear?

Yes sir, On further inspection of the issue, it looks as though the turret rear overhang is just skimming the body and causing resistance. I have relocated the spare road wheel and moved it more up on the rail. Also I swapped out the gearbox with another M60 and assembled the body to the top deck, tightened the screws and it runs a bit better but it still skims just a little this time. The gearbox has plastic gears, per Rich, those seem to be glitchy. I have ordered two more from Motion, trial and error

The gear appears to be intact and tight with no missing teeth. I have seen the gear on ToucanHobby. Thank you tank-me for your assistance.

I have the new barrel and servo from R.Johnson as well, haven't installed it yet, between riding bike and working my spare time is a luxury. Speaking of the barrel, is there a video of the installation process?

Using a HL 7 series rotation unit solved the gltitchy rotation unit on the two I had problems with. Thought it was only two out of 9 have worked on. So its not all of them.
