I got the slightly larger 1/10 scale plastic version of JJRC C8815 Jeep from BangGood a while back. The layout looks very similar. The model is about 13" overall. Many Amazon sellers also carry it at higher prices.

The jeep is a very small vehicle compared to the 1/16 scale tanks we have. The expensive ROCHOBBY 1/6 scale 1942 MB Jeep crawler is the grand daddy of all the smaller scale imitations. The 1/16 scale jeep that RichJohnson imports is the first all alloy variety on the market. It is interesting to see how a heavy, but small scale crawler does.

A real life WW2 MB Jeep is typically 132 inches. A 1/16 Jeep model is 8.5 inches, about the length of a smaller hand from figure tip to wrist. Do you agree with that? Please, lay a measuring stick to the Jeep models and take another picture. It will settle all arguement.

My JJRC C8815 1/10 scale RC Willys' Jeep is about 13 inches as is the Jeep in your video. It needs this big to run good outdoor.

I have seen the 1/16 Jeep first hand that Rich is selling and they are clearly not 1/10 scale and are the size of the Danbury Mint 1/16 replica which is known to be a very accurate model. In fact I helped Rich shoot an off road driving video of the Jeep which he has not yet posted.

I know Rich also has photos of the Jeep next to a 1/16 Tamiya based Sherman for size comparison. Hopefully he will post that soon.

The perspective of size might appear off to you, but it is a 1/16 Jeep. I have held it myself and driven it around. It is NOT 1/10 scale. I have a lot of 1/10 scale RC vehicles and they are substantially larger. I have also built a number of plastic 1/16 Jeeps both injection molded and 3D printed. I think when you see it next to a Sherman and other WW2 vehicles you will come to see as well that is is clearly not 1/10 scale.

It sound to me like you want one, but are hesitant and not wanting it to be 1/10 scale. If so don't worry I know Rich will be posting more comparisons side by side photos and videos soon that should allay your concerns.

Danbury Mint had evolved overtime, but not in the good direction. In 1994, they made a Jeep for the GI Joe toy series which I do not have. Anyway, a real life WW2 MB Jeep is typically 132 inches. A 1/16 Jeep model is 8.5 inches, about the length of a smaller hand from figure tip to wrist. A 13 inches (210mm) model Jeep is 1/10 scale which is what @RichJohnson is selling.

It does not make sense to argue the scale of a Jeep Model without referring it to the real Jeep. Some of us may not recognize that the WW2 Jeep is a very small car compared to today's domestic sedan/SUV.

I have a reputation of quality and detail and I am telling you the jeep is 1/16 scale. I also happen to own a couple real army jeeps and have restored others. I know what I am talking about.

You can clearly see in those photos that the RC jeep is exactly the same size as the Danbury Mint collector model that is well known to be exactly 1/16 scale.

I dont appreciate the posting of a different product schematic that is not this Jeep model and a different scale.
You cannot look at my pictures and proclaim that this rc jeep is 1/10 scale.
That simply is not possible, nor is it fair to me as a retailer that did the investigation on the product and imported a case of them to get some into the United States for a decent price.
RCtank.de sells them for over 200 US plus shipping. My price is $165 plus 27 flat rate shipping.

I have taken more pictures tonight, including with a ruler, and compared to the Torro RC 1/16 GPA amphibious jeep. If this does not convince you, nothing will.

First the ruler picture.... You see! Its clearly about 8.5 inches long, which is about 210mm. Keilau, your doing your math wrong.

Here are the comparison with the GPA wheel base to wheel base. Nearly identical within millimeters of each other.





Now here is where the optical illusion takes place when the figure is in the jeep.
On the left is a Torro 1/16 Half track driver. On the right is the RC Jeep driver. The RC jeep driver is clearly about 1/20 scale, way too small, and it makes the jeep look too big when it is in it.
He's like Steve Rogers before he got pumped and became Captain American.

Your video showed a RC Jeep metal chassis that looks identical to the JJRC C8819 1/10 Jeep that I have. It misled me into believing otherwise. I am deeply sorry about that. Please, accept my apology!

Yes this jeep is very close if not a copy of the 1/10 jeep. I suspect the company may be the same factory but a different producer if that makes any sense on how things are done in china.

This jeep is all metal and really robust. When we were running it in the dirt on the ravines it was doing awesome. The video was shot late in the day and the shadows were terrible. I tried to edit it and lighten it up and I think I ruined the video so I need to go take another one.
I was driving it last night out side in the dark and the headlights work really well in the dark, so do the tail lights. Better than any tank Ive seen so far. I took a couple photos but they they didnt save and I didnt realize it until I put everything away and went to download the photos.
My android phone updated the other night when I got home from yosemite and now many things are different including the settings for the camera. I think I didnt pause and wait long enough for the picture to save.

Just bought one of these from Rich and it does feel very solid. I haven't run it outside yet, but I'll take it out to our battle day at the end of the month to test it out.

I am still able to find a few listing of the original ROC Hobby 1/6 Scale 1941 MB Jeep. Driven by a 550 motor, it is a real impressive rock crawler. If interested, you can easily find old YouTube videos of it.

The 1/10 scale JJRC C8815 is a well excuted cheap knockdown, but runs very well too. I upgraded it with genuine Mabuchi motor, all metal drive shafts and all metal gear steering servo. It is one of my best value RC vehicles.

I am a solo tanker who live too far away to join a RC group. I draw my enjoyment from RC vehicles upgrade as much as driving them in my backyard. The 1/10 scale JJRC C8815 MB Jeep is the perfect candidate for metal upgrade even though it is the wrong RC tank scale. The total cost (Jeep + upgrade) may be higher than your all alloy Jeep with higher quality parts. I am unlikely to get another Jeep for now.

I am still working on the HL Merkava and HL V2 torsion bar Abrams. They will keep me busy for many more weeks. In both cases, I purchased the basic plastic version and upgrade to all metal drive chain.

You really should post your work on the 1/10 scale Jeep in a new thread and show people how you’re doing the upgrading. That does sound really interesting project and I know a lot of people do have the 1/10 Jeep since it’s been the only one available for quite awhile.
that way people can find your discussion, they won’t see it it here since this thread is for the 1/16 Jeep.
