I just installed a Lego DEI in a HL Abrams pro edition installed as video shows but I’d does not light up on start up or when registering hits the tank reacts as it should but no lights this receiver is a replacement for another one ordered but was faulty .Is there something I have missed ?

Only time that happens to me is if I have mine installed the wrong direction, but I have the earlier versions with just the 5 pins sticking down that aren't keyed in one direction.

The first one sent was the new style tried it on my orders and didn’t work the one they sent as a replacement is the older style with just the 5 pins exposed as I ran some tests today it doesn’t seem to pick up any thing lights on/lights off and will not register hits at any range Could my 7.0 board be bad ?

I would make sure the wiring isn't broken. Do you have a voltmeter with an Ohm function? If so, use the ohm function on the wires to make sure there is a connection between both ends.

Make sure you have the power for the LEDs (one plug two lines) plugged into the correct slot on the 7.0 and that it is not plugged in reverse + - vs - +. These two are the most common mistakes when installing the Lego receivers that cause the effect you are having.

I checked the two wire single plug it was in correctly ,so I set to work with the volt meter, the center wire on the male plug of the ir receiver plug was giving a intermittent signal so I totally replaced that end and it seems to be working like it should . I am still kicking around the idea of replacing the 7.0 with a 7.1 and adding a few turret mounted trinkets . Thanks for all the help and suggestions. (P.S. I hate wiring gremlins )

Unless you are converting over to servo recoil and/or servo elevation, there is no real benefit to switching to a 7.1. Other reason may be if you want to use the trim channel on the 7.1 to control a CROWS or commander's site movement.
