Hello guys, where can I find an RC 1/16 M48A3 Patton tank to buy please? I wonder why companies like Henglong, Tongde have decided not to produce this tank considering it was a very common cold war American tank

it’s only been recently that Cold War tanks started being made. It was only WWII for a long time and then a few modern ones.
Now many to choose from but not all the main ones yet.

Only way currently is through scratch building or 3D printing and even the 3D printed ones are the early or German versions.

Another cold war era tank hero that did not find its way to the Heng Long inventory is the British Centurion. I know that Tongde have one, but I am not impressed with the quality of Tongde's metal parts and their incompatibility with 3rd party upgrade. The Haya and Tamiya Centurion are very good quality, but too expensive.

Israel used Centurions in the 1967 Six Day War, 1973 Yom Kippur War, and during the 1978 and 1982 invasions of Lebanon.

Israel’s formerly British Centurions, first delivered in the late 1950s, were renamed “Sh’ot” (“scourge” or “whip”) by the Israelis and heavily upgraded following their purchase. When the Six-day War broke out in 1967, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) had 293 Centurion tanks that were ready for combat out of a total of 385 tanks. During the war, Israel captured 30 of Jordan’s 44 Centurion tanks.

The Israeli version of the Centurion earned its legendary status during the Battle of “The Valley of Tears” on the Golan Heights in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Fewer than 100 Centurion tanks of the 7th Armoured Brigade defeated the advance of some 500 Syrian T-55s and T-62s. The Sh’ot became emblematic of Israeli armour prowess.

I was on the verge of getting the Tongde Centurion Mk5 a few time, but ended up not doing it for various reason.

How do companies like Tongde and henglong decide what tanks to build. I find it surprising that heng long produces both KV1 and KV2 and even the Stug which is not not a tank but have not produced the M48 Patton

You are probably coming into the hobby just recently where there are now a whole bunch of modern and Cold War tanks to choose from before 2020. It was just World War II and Abrams and a T 90 and a T 72 and a leopard too. That was it now because of Tong day and hiya, and some extent hoooooben there are Cold War tanks to purchase and more World War II tanks, especially the British tanks just wait there will be somebody that makes an m48.
I can tell you this which is slightly comical each time I purchased a very expensive, very high-quality 3-D printed kit from high grade aftermarket custom manufacturers some company (Tongde) releases are ready to run version of that not too long afterward.
So give it time somebody will make an M 48 at this point don’t count on hang along making anything new though they don’t seem to be interested in developing any new tanks

Yea, you are right. Hopefully someone makes the M48A3 soon. I hope they get the height of the suspension right though because Tamiya 1/35 M48A3 tanks have suspensions that sit too high. I hope whoever makes the 1/16 version will correct that error.

Heng Long will release new tanks sometimes with no real heads up or announcement. They seem to have released a real correct ZTZ-99A recently. It's got a different upper hull, different turret, and nice digital camo that is different than the previous ZTZ-99A which technically was a ZTZ-99 (no A). I wasn't saying this listing is a good price, just an example of the new tank with pics. Technically the real life ZTZ-99A is a different platform than the ZTZ-99. I'm sure under the skin there are still some common components, but the there are some pretty great physical differences between the A and non-A version.
