Going to try and start up a gathering in Central Florida. I have a Facebook page set up to support communications of the event (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61581840304395) and email here: centralfloridarctanks@gmail.com

I am sure the first of many gatherings will be a learning event. I have been checking out what others have been doing and hope to emulate their great efforts.

Thanks for the read and I will be posting this on other forums and venues.

Well the members of the L.A. Tank, San Diego and DAK tank clubs are here to help you any way we can. All three have been active clubs for more than a decade and have the most experienced RC tankers from out west.

Thanks, David has answered my questions but I am sure I will have more like this one.

What games modes do you play? Any details that can be shared would be great.

Here are the games we play:

        * ELIMINATION: Wipe out all of the opponent’s tanks. Within reasonable time.

        * CAPTURE HQ(FLAG): Pick a building at the end of the battlefield on both sides. Put a different flag on each building. Capture the flag but must destroy all defenders within 5 feet of the HQ. This one is fun as the captain of each side has to decide how many stay back and how many attack.

        * REALISTIC. 3 straight battles in “capture HQ game”. At the beginning of the 1st battle, captains on both sides raise their thumbs up to start the game. After the first battle, teams switch side and start the 2nd game as “recapture the flag” (since the original flag was at the other side). In the 2nd and 3rd games, there will be no thumbs up in getting ready or signaling the consent to start. Teams start and fight with whatever tanks they have available and whenever they want. If your tank has mechanical issue, you have 1 minute to make it run or you are out. Your team will fight with only the functional ones.

        * 3 TEAMS: We make 3 different flag types; blue, read and green. We divide tankers in 3 teams and fight the elimination game.

        * EAST/WEST THEN NORTH/SOUTH: You will be surprise on how your changing directions of the battle after getting bored with one direction.

        * UNLIMITED SHOOTING; Near the end of the day, we play this battle that there is no need to count 6 seconds (reloading time) between each shot. Quite fun!

        * IN THE HEAT OF BATTLE: Tankers place their tanks anywhere in the battlefield but have to be 3 feet inside the boundary. I have a box of 2 types of flags inside. Each tanker closes his eyes and picks a flag. Everyone goes to his tank and put the flag onto it. 3, 2, 1…. elimination battle starts J

        * OPPOSITE CONTROLLERS: All tankers line up their tanks. Then all tankers switch positions and go to the opposite side where their enemy’s tanks are lining up. Elimination battle starts as tankers drive their tanks from the opposite side.

        * 2 LIVES: Each tank get 2 lives.

        * RACE: When the event is over, and after we clean up and put away all the houses and props in our battlefield, we have a race. All tanks line up and race to the marked finished line.

SoCal group is mostly beginners with little depth of knowledge. They uses rules that no other clubs in the US or overseas use. L.A. Tank is the oldest active tank club in the US and known worldwide as a leader in the hobby. That is way company's like Heng Long, TongDe and Tamiya have sought out or advice time and time again over the last decade. We are why LegoDEI battle receiver even exists for HengLong and Tamiya tanks as they were developed and tested at L.A. Tank battles.

Gaming style is something you have to work out with those that attend your events and the type of battle systems the majority use. David uses "kids games" to draw in younger inexperienced players. L.A.Tank uses more advanced battle rules to draw in the true hobbyist. Once you know what group you have you can work out theme events that fit your group. Check out L.A. Tank or LA Tanks on Facebook vs David's club and see which club you think puts on a more professional looking game.

At L.A. Tank the belief is quality over quantity. Numbers don't make a good battle or club the quality of those taking part in the club and battles does.

You decide how you run your club....your way :-) For us, it is the joy we have..... seeing core young member welcoming new young member. We enjoy the hobby; we help parents letting teens playing this activity outdoor just one/two days a month away from video games at homes; we allow our activity for the community to enjoy too. These are still just TOYS for us to play. There is a kid inside many of us. I am one of them, heheh!

DavidN summed it up perfectly in one word the main difference between clubs. Some play with "TOYS". Some like LA Tank its about the true modeling hobbyist, the person who enjoys building, modifying, painting and detailing their tanks and does not consider their tanks TOYS, they consider them RC models.

                  That's demeaning and rude.

Appreciate the info and guidance from any existing clubs. I get to play on1:1 scale so playing with 1:16 scale should be easy. That is me on the .50cal of a M10 that has linage back to WW2 and the IDF.
