  • Black Friday Tank Sale? Motion RC, Not really...

They're only listing the King Tiger as a Black Friday Sale for a Tank at $299 which IIRC is the same price as it was before the tariff price adjustments.

While Toucan is offering the KT 2 ways.

    1. including "Fast Free Shipping" for $288.90 which I don't know what they consider "Fast" since they don't list it as US stock But we can all understand "Free"-
Discover ToucanHobby's collection of high-quality hydraulic engineering vehicles, tank replicas, and ship models. Enjoy our detailed, meticulously crafted models suitable for enthusiasts and collectors alike.

    &

    2. looks to be an in house similarly modified one for $249.90. I'm sure you could negotiate $0. or $1. shipping as I have in the past.
Warning: HengLong RC tank is hobby grade but not toy grade, we expect our buyer is capable of learning how to maintain this tank, because the tank parts will wear and get glitches in running. Lacking manipulative ability will reduce your enjoyment of playing the tank. Only suitable for players with manipulative ability

Any other holiday deals out there that you guys see?

I have 3 items waiting for shipping from Toucan Hobby US warehouse for the Tongde M60A1. The upgrade are necessary after the problem with the TD metal tracks. A dual current gearbox, an Abrams track with rubber pads and a Tongde servo recoil unit. I still got the best price compared to other seller, but the shipping is as slow as from China.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/325746678827 It is supposed to be for larger Heng Long tanks such as the Leopard 2A6, Challenger 2. tank_me has mod it with 540 motor to fit the Abrams. I would appreciate some hands on comparison with a 390 motor ball bearing gearbox such the Heng Xin or the HL Ultimate2 or the Torro series 2?

Ironically that King tiger was sitting in my cart for like 3 weeks, and it was the ONLY tank they dropped on sale. I figured, oh well, may as well get it. I don't have any with barrel recoil.

I did drop the ball on snagging a Losi promoto 1/4 street bike that dropped from $550 to 299. I hesitated because I already had the Losi dirt bike, but man, it was like giving it away at $299. I hesitated and it sold out quick before I committed....oh well.

        So King Tiger it was....

I also bought the King Tiger for my current project, as I was trying to negotiate it with Toucan for $300.00 shipped through eBay and it didn't work out, and I 100% stumbled on the black Friday deal at Motion.

There is no need to negotiate with Toucan Hobby. As MrChef pointed out earlier. The all metal HL King Tiger is $248 and shipping will be well under $30. Did you pay much less $288 to MotionRC?

I saw that listing and was wary of it being customized vs. a factory Pro edition Motion had. That said, Toucanhobby is a great seller especially if sending from a US warehouse.

But the listing Toucan had seemed to have every feature the MotionRC Pro version had, though I was skeptical of it saying it had barrel recoil. I think they meant to say it didn't have barrel recoil, since reading further on, it said it can add barrel recoil. Usually when they say "NOTE:" it means something ISN'T included. I don't think Toucan was being deceptive, but there may be a listing error.

They list it as customized which means they added the metal parts, and maybe not the barrel recoil. That could explain the cheaper price.

But again, I have ordered tons of stuff from toucan and their customer service is top notch!

One modification Toucan does quite often, listed on this one, is the addition of a slip ring, which allows 360 degree movement without twisting the wires to the turret.
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Oh wow! that's good to know! I missed that....Now I wish I got it from toucan hobby. Oh well, it's a minor thing, but a very cool mod. Some things get lost in translation and I didn't realize that they opened the tank up and added 360˚ turret movement.

Toucan is the biggest seller of H-L tanks, Motion is minor in comparison. Just like Motion brings in a couple versions, Toucan has a few (usually about four) and they can make other changes on request.

Why is there no need to negotiate? I've been successful in the past having them change the shipping charges from the normal $25 to $4 and another time down to $1. If you get the price your after for the tank why not also negotiate the shipping?

I take a different approach because I am not good in bargaining. I shop for a low price and responsive seller. I have had discount for being the repeated buyer. However, hobby of RC control toy is a low volume market where staff change too often.

I used to always get a significant discount negotiating. last time I tried it was a dollar or two.

I still have some M113s from Tongde in stock if you’re looking for something new. My prices are lower than toucan and I think they still don’t have them in stock yet.

I painted the metal wheels last night. Took mixing 4 colors! Tan, Brown, Yellow, and Olive Drab. I first colored them with an AK flat marker which acted as a primer, then just brushed acrylic on. it's a near dead match.

It figures that on this "heavy" tank the battery hatch is at the bottom...ugh. I probably won't add the commander and keep the hatch closed on this one.

Hand Brushing meant I didn't have to take the wheels off.

I don’t either though I take the treads and rubbers off. Then mask what I don’t want painted.

For these wheels I don't think I could match out of a can. The King Tiger camo has a lot of green in the tan part. In good light it's almost a greenish tan.
