  • Tank movies

Hello all. I searched for a thread about tank movies. Did not see anything so thought I would start one. There are so many good ones old and new. I invite you to add comments and a link if possible, to your "Track Choice." There are so many to choose from. Some more accurate than others but fun to watch all the same.

One of my all time favorites is, "The Tanks are Coming." A lot of armor and filmed in glorious B&W.

Here's a link. The Tanks are Coming! (1951) Classic Film, Sam Fuller, Main Title & Prolugue | Full Classic Movie HD

        Fun thread!

"Tanks for Stalin", about the drive to Moscow to show Stalin the new T-34 tank.
"Steel Lady", about post war oil workers who find a PZIV (actually a dressed up M24 Chaffee) and drive it through the desert.
"Sahara", the Humphrey Bogart version, on a M3 Lee driving through the desert.
        "Kelly's Heroes", with a T-34 dressed up as a Tiger I.
"Lion of the Desert", with Italian FT-17's and Rolls Royce Armored cars in interwar era North Africa.
        "The Tank", a 2026 movie with a T-55 dressed up as a Tiger I.
"Patton", with M48's as German, Walker Bulldogs as Allied tanks in North Africa.

There are others whose names I don't recall. Some are good, some are not, but it's fun seeing what they came up with for tanks.
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

          Fun thread indeed !
Watching movies and illustrated books are a big part of my hobby.
And what about the Soviet movies about the great Patriotic War.
The panoromic views of the battle scene gave emphasis of the vast scale of the Eastern front
          Evoke awe and dread.
          Cheers ! PZ Loco

Any suggestions for desert war in North Africa from the Brit perspective? Thanks!

Check Tobruk" (1967 & 2008). Not sure how many vehicles there are, though. Also, "Raid on Rommel". I think that one had LRDG trucks.

I liked both "Sahara" productions. Multiple perspectives.

I did not know it but the section below the Tiger upper hull was CGI. As I understand it the museum did not want to put the 60-year-old drive train through the beans. Can't say as I blame them. They created an exact upper hull and mounted it on this,

Watch a film last night called Winter War. A few variants of the Russian T26 in it. English subtitles of a Finnish Film.

"Battle of the Bulge", 1965. M47's for the Germans, M24 Chaffee for the Americans.
"Death Race", 1973. A TV movie. In the North African desert in World War II, a crippled American fighter plane that is unable to take off tries to evade a pursuing Nazi tank.
The Tank is a Easy Eight Sherman. The plane is a P-40 Warhawk.
