3DP M82 on eBay

Ran across this recently. A seller on eBay is offering a resin printed M82 Tank Destroyer in 1/16 scale. Other models and scales too. I know nothing about the M82, but I'm wondering how hard it would be to mate it with a Coolbank M5 Stuart. The simplest method would be to plop the upper hull on the CB M5. That's if the real ones were based on the same chassis. The sprocket is a smaller diameter, but that would just have to be accepted as a compromise if the rest worked. I'd want to know more before tackling something like this. The images are probably CAD generations, so there's no way to assess the quality.

SSModels are made from a fairly brittle resin from what I've seen from the videos I've seen on YouTube. John from East Coast Armory has some videos of how they arrive as he's build a few of them in the smaller scales. I don't think he's built one in 1/16th scale. He has said that he has gotten several broken parts and that the seller does end up sending replacements.

You may be able to get a Duster on the Chaffee chassis, but it was based on the M41 Bulldog. As we all know the Heng Long M41 is out of scale so it probably wouldn't fit well if it's the correct scale. The Duster holds a special place in my heart as it's one of the vehicles I was able to actually drive when I volunteered at the museum. My daughter even got a ride in the turret during of the museum's open houses. Been pushing Inkor to design one to print that would be RC out of the box, but it has yet to materialize. :(

With a little "kit bashing" I a pretty sure you could make a convincing "duster" themed vehicle using a Chaffee hull and the parts from the duster kit.

I am eyeing just the gun/turret for fitment on a M113 as this was done by a few nations.

Hmm. Doesn't seem that the Duster is a good candidate for kit bashing. The M82 might have potential. Rich says the r/c CB M5 is pretty close dimensionally. If the M82 is close also that'd be nice. I've emailed the seller to see if he can provide any more information we could use. I wonder if he'd sell partial kits, say a Duster turret kit of the M82 without the suspension. If he responds to communications, I'll ask.

Little update; the company has its own website separate from eBay, with a lot more items. He prints in multiple scales. Check the item website to see if it is in 1/16.

When I was about 12 years old, my Dad bought a piece of land in a sparsely populated location in Maine and he built a small A frame cabin there. Maybe 5 to 10 miles away was a restaurant and a gas station at a cross roads. In the gas station were two M42 Dusters sitting there quietly rusting. Of course at my age, I didn't know exactly what they were. To me they were tanks, and I got to climb up on them; it was great!!! I wonder what happened to them, and what they'd be worth today.

I've always had a special place in my heart for the Duster as I've been able to drive one while volunteering the museum on multiple occasions. My daughter even got to ride in the turret when she was about 8 years old. I think Inkor will design one eventually.
