  • Restoring My Old RC Tank

    Hi everyone,

I recently found an old RC tank that has been sitting in storage for years, and I'm thinking about restoring it. The exterior needs some work, and I'm not sure if the electronics are still in good condition.

Has anyone restored an older RC tank before? Which parts would you recommend checking or replacing first? I'd really appreciate any tips or advice.

    Thanks!

Not giving the group much to go on. Do you know the make? Heng Long, Taigen, Tamiya?
Secondly. Do you know what type of tank? Tiger1, Challenger, Sherman, Leopard?
Maybe some pictures, to help identify it?
If it an early Heng Long, the first I would consider changing is the electronics.

Yes frankerlinda, many years ago, I got interested in RC tanks after a friend of mine shared some images of his two 1/16 RC 1st Gen Tamiya M4 Shermans. I searched on Ebay, and I found a 1st Gen Tamiya M4 that was damaged by the original owner as he was building it. It didn't come with a control board, and I'm not sure what came with this tank when it was new. Check out my restoration build at RC Groups, and see the many upgrades I performed on this beat up tank as I saved in from the trash. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...iya-M4-Sherman
