    Scoring hits?

My MATO Sherman will score hits on both the MATO Stug III and the Panzer III but hits on the Sherman is void of any? Any suggestions?

    Thanks

I contacted MATO on this situation that I had and this was their reply:
    Hi Ed,

    Thank you for contacting us.

Based on your description, we would first like to determine whether the issue is with the Sherman’s IR receiver or with the IR transmission from the Panzer III and StuG III.

Could you please try the following quick test?

Place the tanks approximately 2–3 feet apart and point the barrels directly toward the target. Please check:
    1. Can the Panzer III register hits on the StuG III?
    2. Can the StuG III register hits on the Panzer III?
    3. Can either tank register a hit on the Sherman at this close distance?

If the Panzer III and StuG III can register hits on each other but neither can hit the Sherman, the issue may be related to the Sherman’s IR receiver.

If they can hit the Sherman only at very close range and with precise alignment, this may be related to the narrower gun barrels on the Panzer III and StuG III. Mato conceals the IR emitter inside the barrel to preserve the scale appearance, but the smaller barrel opening can reduce IR range and make alignment more sensitive.

You can read more about this design here:
    https://matotanks.com/rc-tank-realism-vs-infrared-performance/

We are also currently developing an optional external IR emitter for Mato owners who prefer stronger and more consistent IR performance. We plan to make this accessory available in the near future, providing an alternative for models with narrower gun barrels such as the Panzer III and StuG III.

Please let us know the results of the test. A short video showing the three tanks during the test would also be very helpful.

    Best regards,

    Mato Tanks Team

I have not had time to do the test above that they suggested but since then I received my MATO Tiger and from the results with the Sherman they were correct because the Tiger blew the Sherman away, lit up the room. This MATO tiger is something else, huge, heavy and good fun. Waiting on one more arrival, the Torro U.S M16 Halftrack and then Winter when I hibernate with paint and accessories.

So you may need to open up the tanks and show us what boards are in these tanks. Mato has changed over the years as to which boards they have. Currently most of them have Clark TK24 boards. A pic of the "apple" or the IR receiver would also help. Not all of the RX modules are the same sensitivity.

Thank you for replying. All my MATO tanks have the Clark boards. I believe it was the gunner, poor marksmanship. He's been demoted and put on KP.😂

Upgrade the IR bulb. That makes a huge difference.

I might consider doing that. 👍

Echo QB. Side by side test of the stock bulb vs a hi power bulb - 35 feet stock, well over 100 feet in similar conditions.

The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Thanks, I will mark this link. Are they good for all MATO tanks?

They should be used to replace any stock system.
