  • TF Models 800 size UH-1C Build

I picked this kit up from Jon Ellis who got it and decided not to build it as it's not one of the best quality kits but since I'm "Tirediron" I jumped on it and started trying to make something nice out of it.

I found this cockpit and blades on Facebook Marketplace

Straightening the fuselage with plywood support.

Since I had to flip the tail rotor to the left side I decided to use a control tube linkage to make it cleaner.

The control tube will be blended in to the tail boom.

This called for a T-Rex 600 with a 700 tube, it came with all the pieces to use a belt but I opted for the torque tube and just made up my own using a Roban raised tail elbow.

Excellent work so far George, this is going to be one impressive machine! The diamond plate looks great! If you are going to do a sharkmouth scheme, let me know. I’ve got a huge file of reference photos of 174th AHC photos from when I did my 500 size version. Also, if you are interested, this grenade launcher might fit your machine. I had it designed by Real Model Pilots for my 500 size version, but they accidentally printed it twice as big as necessary.

Hey George, looks nice by the way, but any chance you going to change that nyrod to a more rigid system?? Nyrod does not work good with tail rotors, just curious if you had an idea on replacing that or are you going to give it a try??

I finally got some gray filament in and reprinted all the flooring then started to work on the cabin walls.

I made this latch so I can get the cowl on and off without removing the rotorhead.

Wow, that looks great, like the idea of the the top cowl removal, I'm just about ready to order the 800 Huey UH-1N, might do the same to it as well.

Looking good! Despite all of the initial warping and fitment issues it is really turning into an awesome machine. Are you planning on leaving the doors open and putting in some door gunners?

Hopefully I will have this setup on it.
