My Little Gal II is one of the last Iron Ass Freewing P-51D's, she was bought from the last of stock deal that Motion had at the time. The original fuse and wings suffered a major crash and I replaced them. At that time I had dreamed of doing a Mustang in Flite Metal, so when I took on the rebuild, I relied heavily of a book detailing the rebuild of L'il Margaret. She went to Muncie and was soloed by Captain Mike. I had an accident with her and she sat in the junk box for a few years until my rebuilding skills got better. She was revived and flew again. This year, I decided I could do even better and refinished the nose from the cockpit forward. I went back to the original nose color design.
The letters 'AMC' are my daughter's Ashley, Missy and Cindy, My little Gal is for my wonderful wife Diane and the tail numbers (minus the '4') are 11-09-07, the date we were married. I built as much good luck into as I could and she's had her trials and tribulations, but it seems to work.
So how does she look today? Well, just ran down and took this picture in the basement as we have snow outside.
She's coming up on her 6th season!

Oops, she was maidened at Nefi in Muncie in 2016, so she's actually coming into her 7th season. Not bad for an Old Lady!
Here's Mike, Charlie Brown (OV-10) and me at the preflight
And here's Lon Louver , Mike and myself at a post flight discussion. Lon has the same Mustang and was a great source of information on her.
Felt I had to clear that up

Nice looking plane. I have an affinity to the Canadian liveries. You should check out Hugh Wiedman 's version of this jet entered in last year's contest. His cockpit detail was outstanding! Of course this contest is based off one photo and attention to detail doesn't hold the weight you might think it would. If you want to improve upon the scale looks you may consider updating the roundels from the pre-1965 version to what was actually used on the aircraft.Originally posted by Eric Gottwald View PostHere is my contribution. I know that I am not the first to build this one but it might be the best since I applied scale decals, a scale cockpit and many scale parts aroung the whole airframe.

Thanks uscanuck1xa. Of course, I have seen the one of Hugh Wiedmann. He was the one that gave me the hint to download the scale cockpit for 3D printing (thx again Hugh). However, the scale parts of the fuselage on his one were missing (IFF antennas, several outlets) and, at least for me one of the most important things, wrong aircraft numbers were used. This is what I wanted to realize with my CF-18 and which worked quite nicely. However, thanks for roundel advice.Originally posted by uscanuck1xa View Post

Eric Gottwald spectacular, but then obviously I have an affinity for this livery! Would love to see some more photos especially of the cockpit. You can always post them in the F-18 thread but there's no law against posting them here as well, is there?
