34 days 'til we pack up and start heading East! Man it's coming up quick!!
Trying to keep up with the schedule and ticking off the things on the 'to do' list. Just waiting for the Avanti to grace my doorstep, get the measurements from all the planes and build the rack to hold them (Diane loves doing that !) A couple of new batteries on the way, having a bird that takes two makes you aware of the short supply! Getting La Patrona up and dialed in was a great experience as I ticked off a couple of more firsts (first twin and first tricycle geared plane) and with the Avanti, that will be my first EDF!
My Little Gal II was being a typical Freewing P-51 yesterday and didn't want to go in the air, would rather pirouette on the runway like some kind of ballerina. Anyway, said enough of that nonsense and blasted her into the air in a not so pretty takeoff, but hey, she was up. Once in the air, she remembers she's an airplane and flies fine, actually lands well too, just when she gets to that high taxi speed, just before the tail comes up, she wants to swing. Had the motor out and played around with shimming it a bit different and also, I'm trying a little more cg to make her SLIGHTLY more tail heavy, see if that helps.
Here's a point you may not have considered that I found great at Nefi, if you have a problem bird, its the perfect time to bring her out as the meeting of great minds is simply awesome. I'm looking forward to picking brains again this year in regards to what the guys have done with the Tigercats and Avantis.
Last year, I walked away a much better pilot. CB, Lon, Mike and Ryan Captain Kevin, BenJack and all the gang were great in lending a hand where needed and offering advice when asked. If there's something at the end of the day to take home from Nefi, it's an improved skill set. To me, that's worth a three day drive from WY,

It'll be great to have your their MB, looking forward to seeing the B-17 as well as the other planes you're bringing!!
Just got all our reservations made for getting there and coming back. AMA HQ is first come first serve, CB is going to to be first there and he needs a lot of room two or three spots I'm figuring !!;)

Remember how I almost hover landed it (Windiana) as last survivor of the warbird mass gangle and I was the only axis bird in the air amongst all those stars/bars after I proclaimed to all to come and get me....... LOLOriginally posted by Grossman56 View PostGreat to hear! Gets exciting now not long to go.
I haven't hear a lot about the FL FW-190 but if its anything like the Dynam that CB has, it'll be a great plane.
See you there!!

Getting closer to the time, two weeks from today is the last day of work !
Looking forward to seeing everyone and if the weather doesn't smarten up, I may be maidening the Avanti at Nefi !
I was going to get a telemetry module for her, but Motion doesn't have a Spektrum brand and are out of stock on the ones they do carry.
Have to shop else where I guess.

I was looking at adding the tm 1000 telemetry module as I already have a 10 Lemon receiver for her, I wonder if that's not the same telemetry system that's built into the AR 6600T.
I agree with you that with juice guzzling jets, keeping a close eye on that fuel tank of a battery is something I would want to do.
I have a couple of 4000 6s to run through her and will start out at three minutes to see how the tank looks.

I'm following your thoughts now Dan. I've got a couple of the TM 1000's. I purchased them at Horizon. At the time, MRC didn't carry themLon

Just ordered one as well, I just have a gut feeling that I should have one in this plane.
I'm also going to keep my eyes out for a sweet deal on a 5000-5500 6s. A little more breathing room.
Meanwhile she already to go, probably try tomorrow morning depending on the weather.

Just last weekend, the Telemetry in my F-86 saved me a battery, and maybe the plane too.....:)In all the excitement (haha) of flying, i made the mistake of setting aside an already flown battery with my stack of "charged" batteries waiting their turn to fly. Sooo, placed the battery in the 86 for a flight. Taxied to take off....all clear....zoom!! Off into the wild blue  I heard that sweet voice tell me "landing gear up"..."Flaps up" "battery 22.2 volts".... and it didn't register right away(normal after take off 24.2 or so), what she had just said as far as volts..but 30 seconds later "battery 21.3 volts" HEY!!! THAT'S NOT RIGHT I THOUGHT!! Immediatly dropped gear...flaps...brought her in and landed. Yes, close call...checked battery after landed....22%...phew:Whew:was only in the air for 40 seconds or so.Originally posted by Grossman56 View PostJust ordered one as well, I just have a gut feeling that I should have one in this plane.

And that's exactly why I want one! Battery life with mixed throotle using a 4000 seems to be about 3.5 minutes, maybe four if I stretch it, but I'd rather know before hand just where the tank is at.
Broke down and ordered a 5000 as well, harsh price, but it seems a necessity with these gas guzzling birds.
Dreaming of the day when a new type Lipo gets announced that will give ma a comfortable 6-7 minutes in a jet, awww R/C Paradise!!
