I'm late getting on this, but saw an opportunity to get the Marine count up. Couldn't help myself.

Ohhh...how I envy you SIR! Always wanted to be a "real - live - Jet jock"...but alas ...never could get all the planets to line up properly...almost got into the NAVY AVCAD program back in '87 with a waiver, passed all the 'tests', but during the final approval process, they kicked me down due to a ARMY service connected injury 3 years prior, for which I am now a retired DAV. I know I could have still 'cut - it' though! We Army ADA troops were trained and built TUFF! efffin flight surgeons and bureaucrats be damned! ...just kidding...NOT! LOL! Thank you for your service and all the high risk missions and duties you took on! You guys are truly...'Brave Men'! Hoo-yah!

Did you by any chance participate in a Green Flag exercise at Nellis back in June-July '90?

I never got to play in a Green Flag. Always seemed to get caught up supporting MAWTS-1 training exercises at Yuma when we weren't deployed. June-July 90' I was actually still in the RAG Squadron, VAQ-129 at Whidbey Island.

Thanks shocktrooper! There were certainly a lot of hoops to jump through, planets to align, and medical witch hunts to get past. Still don't know how I made it, but I fooled them all!

Hey Tom............Back on 6/11/15 in this post you told me about being with the Zappers and having the same 76 cruise book for the Nimitz but you never divulged your rating.
Now that I know you were an AMH, I starting looking at the cruise book and I think you are on page 235 with the initials T.H.W ;)

I spent 7 years active on two submarines, USS Alexander Hamilton and USS Georgia. I served as a Nuclear trained Electricians Mate First Class. I installed, maintained and operated shipboard trainers installed at various training centers for 22 years. I eventually became a government service employee serving the Navy at the WNY in DC. I retired two years ago after providing 39 years of service to the Navy. I have been sworn in at least three times and have never been un-sworn. I will continue to provide support to this wonderful nation as I always have. Thanks to all those that have served before, during and since.

Because of my deaf ear and screwed up back, I was robbed of my one dream of flying fighters. One of my best buddies in high school got the dream job of flight instructor in FA-18's in the CAF, envious still!
