  • Easy removal of paint on surfaces to glue

I have found an easy way to remove paint from foamy surfaces without sanding. This is especially helpful in small hard to reach areas.
Cover the painted surface with plain old Scotch Tape and wait about 30 minutes. When you remove the tape, most of the paint will peal off also. For large areas, a wide type packing tape will work.

There you go, Bill.  Especially in the hard-to-get-at places.
Sounds like you're planning to paint, keep us informed!

          Greetings Bill,

          Thanks!!

I have used this method of paint removal and it does indeed help.

3M packing tape even works better. I also use it to remove those pesky non-scale stickers. It also works great to remove ultra coat from balsa/ply ARF's. The Doctor

I used it to pull off the window decals on Pandora One, did a great job!

I have tried a lot of different tapes to remove stickers and paint from foamies. The one that works the best is Clear Gorilla tape. Most other tapes work OK, even the regular black Gorilla tape works OK on the easy to remove stickers.

For the stickers and paint that is tough to get off use the Clear Gorilla tape. Just firmly press a piece of tape starting on the edge of the sticker and slowly peal the tape back over itself. No need to wait to start pealing.

Sometimes when removing paint some paint will remain in the ripples of the foam. Use denatured alcohol and paper towels to dissolve and remove it. Denatured alcohol and Clear Gorilla tape is available in the paint department at Home Depot. Rubbing alcohol usually has a lot of water in it and does not work as well. Alcohol will not harm foam.
                Landing is mandatory!
