That is good inexpensive idea and one that I might try as soon as I get enough wall space in my crowded garage. I saw a youtube video of a guy that used the same idea of PVC pipes to build a multiple plane transport rack that he placed into the back of his Toyota Rav4 SUV . -

A real easy storage wall rack
use(2) pvc fitting above and (2) 10 to 12 inch pieces of pvc
drill 2 holes in the fitting (upper & lower on the T side of fittings)
screw fittings directly into wall about 15" apart making sure their level
add foam pvc insulation to pipe and insert into fittings (add pvc cap to pipe if desired)
as you can add more racks as you get new planesAttached FilesComment

Pretty cool idea...I used to make R/C racing boat stands out of that stuff. Please post some pictures of the finished product,with a plane - or two...<smiley image="smiley_grin.gif"/> I74Comment

Pvc pipe makes a great work rack ( shop and field) for your plane. As for plane storage, I put hooks in the ceiling and hang my planes by the prop shaft. You can really squeeze them in this way. I do have a high ceiling in my shop. The DoctorComment
