  • Papa's panel replacement on Foamy Warbirds

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. As many of your know I like to rivet my planes. So, I have been named Papa Boozer/Dots. My FlightLine Corsair dropped from its perch and dented both wings. I have always wanted to play around with light aluminum for patching. If a real warbird got damaged the ground crew would repair with scrap aluminum. this could be as small as a bullet hole or as large as complete panel. My thoughts was that aluminum foil was too lite, so I us a cooking pan. This thickness was perfect for using an awl for rivets. You can see in the pictures attached of the outcome. I am not completely satisfied, but will keep refining process. I may need to recess the aluminum into the foam, remember this is to repair a dent, ding or hole. Commonly know as hanger rash. Maybe someone has done this before, would like to see your efforts. Papa Boozer/Dots nice going this really turned out cool. Can’t wait to see you refine this process and looks nice and cheap. Now next time have mama boozer fill that pie pan with some pie for me 😉
