  • HobbySquawk security certificate and sluggish page loading?

I'm using Chrome as my browser. Starting about a couple weeks ago, when I try to open HobbySquawk, I get a warning from Chrome about not being able to get a secure connection to the site. I tell it to go there anyway and it takes a fairly long time to get there - upwards of 15 seconds. Using Edge or Safari, I don't get the warning but it's still very slow to load. No other website is slow like this.

Today, when I tried to "edit" a post, it won't do it. I save it but when it goes back to the actual post, the edits are not there.

Is there a problem with your server?

Safari on my Ipad is OK. Can't get Safari for my Windows 11 PC.

You still sluggish with Google? I'm in the same boat.

Yes. I use Edge for HobbySquawk now since Chrome won't even load this site anymore due to the warning about the security thing. With Edge, it's still slow as molassus. Using Safari on my Ipad, it seems to be OK but not as fast as it used to be weeks ago.
PS. I just checked my internet download speed. On both Edge and Chrome (shouldn't be a difference), I have ~1 Gbps speed.

              Using Chrome, noticed the same.

Hoped it might be due to all the 'New" Official Freewing and Flightline Model Forums being loaded in the background.

              Guess not, huh?

Well, we get what we pay for so I'm just happy I can still find y'all.

Aros does a great job keeping this thing alive, IMHO.

Hmm, I use Chrome and no issues like that I have seen yet? However, this site has always had a history of being slow as molasses. Out of our control for the most part. I’ll keep an eye out and see if there’s anything we can do on our end to improve performance.

I'm beginning to have my doubts about Chrome. I've duplicated all my bookmarks to Edge but haven't started to use it extensively yet. Too lazy to find all my passwords for all the sites that need username and password.

Yes, I noticed last night, suddenly, it went back to normal on Chrome. The gremlins working in the background must have gone home.

In Chrome, it had something to do with not being able to see "https" or something like that. It sees it now. "Certificate is valid".

The slow down is still happening but intermittently. Most evident on Chrome but now more often on Edge. Edge refused to load H.Squawk yesterday. At the moment, both are good. Safari not a problem yet but I only use it on my Ipad.

Hobby Squawk loads, though it is quite slow and edits are really difficult.

I have 1 gig Interweb-thingy speed and loading HS is more like WIn XP and dial-up days of yore.

I clean my cache before I click on HS, seems to help somewhat, but who knows.

This current attempt to open this site was denied by both Chrome and Edge. I told it to go to the site anyway and after a delay, it opened. Something is happening in the background where the browsers can't see a valid security certificate. Once in, it does say it's "secure" but still very slow to "post reply".

Edit to add comment: It just took 25 seconds from the time I hit "post reply" for the actual reply to show up.

                                  Hi everyone,
We made a few changes to our web server this evening to address the slowness issue. Please let us know how the forum is performing so we can continue to fine tune.

                                  Thanks

This session, still warned about security certificate from Chrome and Edge, but told to go to HobbySquawk anyway. Posting a reply to a thread just now still slow.
Edit .................. this time only 8 seconds, so getting faster.
