  • Bind plug

I always put in an extension plug-in for binding, just in case I have to re bind. Really makes it easyer! Doc

That's good to hear, it's about time they did that.

I have a couple planes I use that "channel" for lights.

If I put a Y harness in to power the lights, could I still rebind through the empty lead? .

Yes because it uses the ground and signal wires to bind and you're using the ground and power for the lights.

So it would just kill the lights while binding. I might have to rig that up on those planes. I don't rebind very often, but that could come in very handy when I do

                It shouldn't.

Only problem with the Rx bind button is, on some planes (Freewing A-10) the reciever is inaccesable. Also... how do you hold down the Rx bind button and the Tx bind button at the same time?:Confused:Doc

If it works like my Futaba, you turn on the radio and press the bind button on the receiver until the light is solid. Haven't got a Spektrum receiver with a button yet.

I have seen several Eflite planes (& other Horizon products) use extensions on their BNF Spektrum Rx's to bring the bind port to a more convenient location. Since a bind plug is just a jumper between the two outer pins on the port, any 3-wire extension cable will do. This can then be used to power lights, etc. when not being used for binding. On some Lemon Rx's, the bind port doubles as AUX2.
I have not seen Rx's that bind with a button. To me, this is one more extra piece of "fiddly". As said before, now you need another hand (finger) to do the binding. The Lemon Rx's with failsafe need to have a button held when binding in failsafe. I've done this once and it was tricky (for me) - needed to be a bit of a contortionist to get it done.
