Today's livestream begins in one hour.
To watch and listen on Twitch, see this link: https://www.twitch.tv/alphamakesa
To talk live with me (conference call style) and the rest of the group, join the Discord link: https://discord.gg/es3c6Sr
The advantage of being on the Discord group is that there are several of us talking in real time, while we're watching my screen via Twitch. It's easier to talk live on Discord than it is to type in the chat window on Twitch.

Awe, that makes sense, thanks Radar Guy. I'll have to study those further to ensure I understand the differences. I don't want to have recreate everything all the time if I don't have to (and speeding up a project and effort is always welcome). That control panel looks absolutely amazing!Originally posted by Radar-Guy View Post
The nozzle looks good! One advice: When starting with cockpits, be sure to be familiar with the concept of Bodies and Components in Fusion 360 (unless you're working on a Piper J-3 panel). With this you will be able to use certain parts (like MFDs, certain knobs and switches) multiple times with small effort.

Thanks, Pat! It is slowly getting better, ha-ha. The goal is eventually to be able to figure out how to do even the most complex nozzles. Hopefully with time, that'll become a reality. I still have to try designing cockpits and other aircraft pieces, so there is lots to learn, but it's fun and captivating.
Alpha and many of the talented people on this forum make even the most complex elements look so easy/effortless.

Okay, quick update on the tailcone. I took some tips and methods from the Live Stream and added them to the previous tailcone design I made. This is sized for the Freewing 80mm EDF Avanti S. I added some more detail. It isn't anything special, but the key is adding knowledge and practicing in the program. I have to remind myself that I've used the program for 4 days and have much to learn and utilize in the program. Baby steps, baby steps....

Alpha, thanks again for your efforts. I really appreciate that, I haven't seen any other RC product vendor doing such things. I just finished watching the last episode (the one with Fulcrum seat) and would like to ask some questions and share some thoughts:
1. I wonder, what the goal of these sessions (dealing with Fusion360 designs) is. a) I think there are some people trying to learn more about the capabilities Fusion360 offers in order to be able to create their own upgrade parts (and share those). I belong to this group. Or b) is it intended to be a nice chat session with you doing some CAD magic in the background? If the answer is a) it would be great to get some more structure into it. I've started with Fusion360 2,5 years ago with absolutely no CAD knowledge and maybe I could give some advice for "offline" training" based on my experiences while trying to learn Fusion360 as a hobbyist. Saying this, I'm still far away from designing an entire (simple) airplane. But it's enough now to model things like a decent looking instrument panel and such. It's fun, but a loong way to go with online tutorials only.
2. 3DP Community
a) Would it be possible to get sketches of certain "cuts" of a given airframe? I'm thinking about things like the shape of the canopy bow (to design with mirrors) or get a decent of the main instrument panel decal (to designa nice panel). It would be much easier than to start taking your measurements and templates just to get the right shapes and sizes. You can do it "in situ", it's hard for "us" to do it
b) How about adding and maintaining a dedicated "section" for an aircraft including some kind of a "files repositiory"? It's pretty hard to find files attached to the main thread of a certain models after a while, there are just too many different topics
Thanks again
Frank

I wasn't able to join for the first half, but was able to towards the end. I'll be going back to watch the beginning. These videos have been great so far.

Really enjoyed hanging out with alpha and the gang. Timed well in this part of the world for a Saturday morning coffee.
Even if you're not into CAD or 3DP id recommend joining in. Plenty of good conversation about plane design and RC in general.

Perfect, thanks!
Like Pat asked, are you going Live at 8 or 9pm ET today?
Also, will you be doing a Live Stream eventually to design the airbrake? (Unless I missed it and didn't know it)

I thought today was going to be 8 pm? But 9 pm is good with me (6 my time).

I'm going live in about 2.5 hours, ~9pm EST. I think we'll be doing the cockpit today, after showing another method of tailcones that I think some of you might find helpful.
