Well, the paint didn't adhere very well to the material these figures are made of, so I scrubbed it off with some water and a tooth brush and sprayed the bunch with black primer. Really should have done that in the first place, but live and learn.
A bunch of new paint arrived today that is dedicated to Allied and German uniforms. As there aren't a whole lot of color pictures out there of WWII era soldiers, this should help to zero in on the correct colors. Reenactment soldiers are good as well to get a start, but I'm pretty sure the uniforms didn't go home at night and be washed, pressed and put in some form of protected storage.....

Heading down to play with them some more.
BTW, toothpicks pressed into foam, insert the straws. Makes a great stand.

I like your starting the process with the black primer as a base coat. Look forward to seeing how they turn out using this process!

Everyone has a different expression, the difficulty is not making them look all the same facial tone-wise.

Coming along, Got to buy some good old Testors Glue to assemble the parts...

Some more work to be done on the faces to get the cartoonish look a little less. I find if I can get the surrounding colors working, it helps a lot.

Yes, a bit at a time. Once I'm finally retired (Jan 22) I'll have more time. I remember my mom saying that she was glad she was retired because she just didn't have time to go to work!
Wise words. Old gal is stiil kicking, coming up 100 next year, hard to believe.
