Hey GMan.... Looks great! I notice that the air exhaust (not sure what to call it) is down in the picture Is that a feature on that one?

Yes it is Lauren, that's the air exhaust for the radiator which was down when on the ground to keep it from over heating.  On the Freewing, its used to cover up the rudder servo, just pinch it and remove, or, you can deploy it like I have in the picture, I also got the canopy to slide back as there was a question as to whether or not if actually does, yep it does!

Hmm well you probably know but for single engine planes the spinning motor and prop create torque and that will pull an aircraft to one direction. It gets stronger as more throttle advances. So the best advise I can give is gently apply rudder as needed. And I cant stress this enough learn how to use the rudder well. Don't just completely rely on ailerons. Because the more advanced you get rudder is very useful and makes your flying look smoother and with more flow.

I think that was directed to me. Still figuring the forum out. My avatar is a plane that I built out of Home Depot foam. Hence the pink. Unfortunately its not around any more but i'll redeem the plane to life later

You are correct about the prop torque, however, an added factor is the prop wash, or vortex. The prop wash pushes the tail to the right before flying speed is reached, making the plane veer left. I'll never forget how much right pedal I had to use on takeoff in the Piper Cub. Doc

So what do you think now, having a FW and a FMS Mustang. Which one is better?

                          Boy, good question!
I've noticed a few things are different.  The level of detail is better on the FW, the landing gear is outstanding.  I like the idea of the ball type clevises and I really like the access door being on the front/top of the nose.
For a build , it went extremely easy, of course I have to consider just the build and not the repaint.  I noticed also that the Freewing fuse is wider than the FMS.  Flight comparisons will have to wait for a bit until the weather smartens up again, looks like snow is on the way, although you never can tell around here.  It can be 70 one day and snowing the next.
I still have to paint a canopy bar on the bubble to make it look authentic but that's no big deal.   The Freewing obviously weighs more when you throw in a sound system and an extra battery.  All in all, I think the Freewing edges out the FMS.  Of course, throw in the sound system and then compare the price and the Freewing wins hands down!

I've got a FMS Mustang on my wish list.  But been thinking of getting another FW Mustang, and paint it in the scheme of the FMS that I like. Actually, since I'm a born and raised Iowan.  Was thinking of doing the Blue Nose scheme of The "Hawk-Eye-Owen"

Awesome shots! Love the three side by side! By the way, while the canopy does open, it's really tight on my Old Crow. So tight I'm not sure I'll slide it open again.

                                Greetings Guy's,

You know of the MANY planes I currently own, I do not own a P-51 Mustang (other than the small 800mm FMS offering).
I am a huge P-51 fan and I totally respect its rich history and its place an as iconic warbird but, I have always considered them to be the "Me Too!" plane of the RC world.

As in, "I have a P-51 Mustang! Oh, yeah?, Me Too!!

But, admittedly, I have been considering the acquisition of a P-51 lately.
So, reading the seemingly none stop, never ending conversations on the various P-51 offerings (and boy, are there a bunch of P-51 iterations) I might just have to take the plunge and see what all the hype over P-51's is about.

                                  Bill,
The newest Freewing release (Bud Anderson's Old Crow) is pretty cool. The Freewing is a very nice 1410mm bird anyway, but the Old Crow got me to take the plunge recently too. Adding the MrRC sound system was just the ticket. Note that there is a sound included version of this bird, with the Freewing sound system, too. I debated between the 1450mm FMS "Big Beautiful Doll" and the FW for some time, but settled on the FW because of several quality differences: better servo's, ball-bearing linkages, better hinges, and outstanding landing gear. Good luck!

Somehow, tight doesn't begin to describe the latch on the canopy!
After a lot of fussing and fighting, I got mine back.  There was a question as to whether it did, in fact, open.  I could see the slides, just like My FMS Mustang so I knew it would.
The thing was that I wanted to paint in the canopy bar that's missing there, so it had to come back. I was hoping to be able to take it right off, but no luck.
So once the bar is painted in, She'll probably stay closed.
There's a great thread in Propeller Airplanes dedicated to the Freewing P51, we're hoping to make it Mustang Central for Freewings, check it out!

                                        Bill you virgin you!
But seriously, if you are going a P51D, I don't think there's a better plane than the Freewing 1400 with sound!
I own two FMS and when I got the Freewing, I took one look and fell head over heels for her.  I've seen many a real P51 and this little girl is so real you can get flashbacks just looking at her.  Just finished CGing her and she sits on the balance point absolutely perfectly, I'm so impressed.
Had a little trouble with one strut, but hey, its me we're talking about.  When have I ever bought a plane that was 100%!!??
Either version Bill, Old Crow or Iron Ass (beware the propeller situation with Old Crow) or just do what I did and repaint it into anything you want.
By the way, the build is super easy.  I fought with the FMS P51B wing for a good four hours to get it to finally line up properly, so you can imagine how much I was looking forward to installing another P51 wing.  About 5 to 10 minutes Bill, I swear!! this thing built so easy  Pilot Ryan's videos make everything crystal clear with the lights and landing gear sequencing as well as sound system calibration.
She's definitely the biggest bang for your buck, come see what we're all raving about!!
