First of all, can someone explain to us all the difference in servos?
I understand a metal servo and a reverse servo, but are there separate servos insofar as flap servos versus aileron servos?
And what does 7 gm servo mean exactly.  Just a different weight or more than that.  I was thinking of changing to Spektrum servos for instance and they wanted to know the dimensions of the ones I have now, so they didn't seem to know what a 7 gm servo meant or maybe it was that they can be 7 gm and still come in different dimensions.

Lets get some feedback on this for the greater good.

Hey there GMan! This guy has a lot of good info on servos.... It's for helicopters but it's the same deal... http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/rc-servos.html

I forgot to say, 9 gram servo means the weight like you thought :)

I should write something about servos, they are interesting essential little things.

                  Greetings Martin,

Perhaps you could put what you intend to submit in the knowledge base as well?

Great idea if Martin could take it on, definitely in the knowledge base as well.
In the meantime, the new pilots just arrived!  Check these out:

Pretty cool and the detail is really something, I have my painting cut out for me, but loads of fun on a wet cool day.  Didn't even get close to 70 here, cloudy, 44 this morning!!!

                      Greetings GMan,

Understood. This evening we are supposed to receive weather conditions we typically don't experience until mid-October.

                      Very strange days indeed!

]And Man, are we smoked in today, fires in Washington, Oregon and California all make their way to Wyoming, it the worst I've seen since moving here four years ago.  Must be like when Yellowstone was on fire!
Anyway, got the Waco up yesterday and tried out the gyro.  The wind was all over the place, the wind sock kept changing and there were winds at different levels that were 180 degrees different, what a challenge for a gyro and a little plane.  Took her up, switched on the gyro and did some aerobatics, and brought her around to land.  Man those wings were rock solid, no having to correct for winds, she came down to land just beautifully.
Got two flights in on her and a couple with Pandora one, great night.  Diane got up once but wrestled with the wind.  Did a great landing once again, getting to be old hat for her.  Now there's a gifted pilot in the making, guys.
Here's how the boys are coming along, they're roughed in and I'm about to start detailing and blending

You can see how I started with a black base and then blended a burnt sienna on top of it in thin layers to give them the leather look

A few facial details are there, but I want them a little better so more blending

Lots of fun.  I used artist grade (liquitex or Stevenson) acrylics and they adhere to the surface very well.  The nice thing about acrylics is the fast drying time, so you can layer pretty quickly, even quicker with a hair dryer, just watch the temp.

For all you A3-L experts... I tried to use my gyro on a delta wing with no success. Now, I can't get the thing back to normal. I fast click on the no. 1 flash and it will only turn red for elevon. I can't get it back to blue for normal. I tried it in a normal plane and the motor runs, but the controls don't work. The plane works great without the gyro. I'm at my wits end with this thing. HELP! Doc

Martin with MRC told me to check the polarity on my servo plugs. Sure enough, I had the aileron plugs in upside down. Why aren't they all made to plug in only one way. Duh!!! Now if I could only make a gyro work in my Multiplex Funjet!!! (elevons) AGGRAVATING!!!! I'm sure I had something plugged in wrong. Will try again. Doc

Hey guys and gals, got the new pilot in BBD, bit of a challenge as you have to trim Shorty's body down and stick the new torso onto it.  Good old Gorilla Glue

                                    He looks pretty cool!

Took my Dynam Corsair up today . Not too bad for its maiden but I was a nervous wreck after landing.
I get that way for every maiden . I Think if was paper I would still be nervous,,,,,,,,,
