Ron, since you're a man who likes to tinker, I'll pass along a li'l tip that you might like to try.
Hie thyself back to yon Michaels, & ask for the Martha Stewart line of Metallic Acrylic Paints. Might not be shelved with the regular lines of Acrylic. You want the color named 'Sterling', #32128; on some labels it says 'Argent Sterling'. It's printed on the top backside opposite the brand labeling. While there, check the other Metallics in that line - you might find something else you like. I got another also, not had the chance to try either out yet .... but the #32110 Rust looks interesting. Intending to try both in the airbrush when I get the shop re-arranged & back into production but that'll be awhile. Would like to hear what you find meantime.

Hey now there's a definite possiblity!! Being an acrylic painter myself, I'm ashamed I didn't even think of that!
I'll have to put that on my list of things to check out when we hit Micheals next month.
Its a 1 1/2 hour drive from here in the wilds of Wyoming!

Rocket, I think this what I was wanting but didn't do a lot of searching. I know the brand and where it's located so will look the next time out. For those who don't, Hobby Lobby and Michael's are great places to find stuff to manufacture parts and find building supplies.

          Well, everybody shout Halleluyah!!!
Grossman finally got his Waco to fly perfectly!!!!
It was the excessive travel throws on the elevator, plus a little CG concern (tail heavy). She settled down very nicely and I had to add a couple of clicks of aileron trim and a couple of clicks nose down trim on the second flight. She was like she was "on rails" as everyone was telling me their's flew. Had her up twice so there was no doubt she tamed now.
In between flights with the Waco, I flew Pandora One, she's such a tame bird, She's like a lab (dog) "where to you want me to go, what do you want me to do? Ok, yep, sure..."
Now there's bird that truly flies like she's on rails. Just line her up with the straightaway and hands off til she needs to turn again, beautiful. My only concern is that she's a little slow, I hesitate to do arobatics with her, besides the Waco will fly any maneuver. I rolled her today for the first time, yes three mistakes worth of altitude! Not doing that again!!!

I've found when doing rolls with the Pandora. Be ready to give her some down elevator as she rolls to her back. With a little practice, you'll find you can keep her on a nice slow roll on a level axis.....yes, keep your 3 oops altitude, but it will take just a few tries and the timing of down elevator, will take away the fear of rolls that send you towards the fast approaching ground. ALSO, give her a little more throttle and raise the nose right before going into your roll.

Yep, I hear you, Pandora Two will do anything (High Wing) but Pandora One is a little heavier, not much, but I replaced the stock wheels on her and a different ESC. I've looped and rolled, Cuban 8'd etc in Pandora Two no trouble.
I think the Waco will give me all the aerobatics I'll need.

I probably will try her in a roll, but right ow I'm just so proud that she even flies.

Yes! I have the Freewing IronAss P-51D, and the Durafly Old Crow P-51D. In my mancave/hanger, I have another P-51D I'm building right now. The new one I'm working on will have the markings/nose art, of the "Passion Wagon". Going to have it set-up for 4s battery use.

                  cooolllll !!
Next winter I'm planning on building a Freewing P51D to look like Contrary Marie

I'm trying to figure out how to duplicate the metalic finish without causing receiver interference. Have a few things to investigate.

This has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid simply because she has the same "WZI" as Big Beautiful Doll, being that Landers turned over command of the 78th in 1945.
I don't know wether she is BBD revamp for the new skipper or a whole different aripalne, but cool nevertheless

Okay, call me a kid at heart, but I have this spare set of Pandora wings just sitting here and had to see for myself what it looks like...............

                    Cool huh!

The question is, has anyone tried flying her in this configuration?

You gotta wonder what it would fly like!
I mean an extra set of wings would only give it more lift.

Maybe it's the coloring that's throwing me off, but isn't 1 set of those wings' airfoil facing the other?
Not sure what, but don't think it'd equal 'Lift' per se. ~8)

Nothing is hooked up, the wings are simply inserted into the center section, there are no servos or anything, just bare bones top wings, thats why the aileron looks like its out of alignment, because, in fact, it is. I was just curious to see what it would look like and also if anyone actually went so far as to fly one in this configuration? Now with trike landing gear it would look even stranger!<smiley image="smiley_sleep.gif"/>HMMMMMM

As a matter of interest, has anyone tried the 2200 Admiral Pro series batteries in the Waco? I'm thinking it might be the route to go as mine seems to need a little more nose weight than everyone else. Got a couple of flights on her this weekend, she's a different knid of bird but I've pretty well got her dialed in now

                                    Greetings G56,

I normally fly the Waco on 1800 mAh Admirals but, on days like today when the winds are on the gusty side, I'll go with a 2200 mAh Admiral for a little more umff against the wind.
The little Waco is like a whole new plane with the 2200.

Lately she's started to emulate her litle sister Ol' Weedwacker and head for the sage brush. I guess I shouldn't park them side by side, have to separate them so they stop giving each other bad ideas!

I did notice a tendency for the Waco to roll to one side, not violently, but just a little out of trim. Now, for some of you who are old hands at this hobby, this is probably a DUH moment, but this being my first biplane, it took me a little figuring before the AHA light went on. Instead of trimming trimming trimming, I increased the lift on the down wing by tightening the rod that connects the top and bottom ailerons, therefore increasing lift on the top wing. I thought of doing it the other way and decreasing the lift on the up wing, but hey, I'd rather increase lift than loose lift. Now tell me that this is an old pilot trick when fling bip's.
Nice morning here in Cody, a little frosty, but clear and no wind. Off to the field!!

Well, I tried to fly today, got everything all packed up and headed for the field, but, that dang Cody wind beat me to it. By the time I got there (5 min drive) the wind had the flags straight out! Oh well, supposed to snow tomorrow, so that could be the end of the season, I was really hoping to get one more day out of it.
