      Greetings Guys,

Glad we're all back!!! Had me worried there for a bit G-Man!!

I think we're getting a ripple effect from your wind as we've been getting blown around for like the last 7-8 days with nothing but yuckyness predicted for the coming week!!!

Good news is, with any luck the ol' Dynam Waco will show up as "in stock" tomorrow or so.
On a positive note while being stuck inside, here's my latest project....

Also a first at dabbling in Elevons.... weird.

I had the same thought myself, of maybe the season coming to an end here. Managed to get in a couple hours of flying before it was too dark. Hands were getting cold anyway.
Christmas list??? Hmmm.... I'm thinking a FMS 1450mm Mustang. Then I could have hands on experience to compare between the FMS Mustange and my Freewing Mustang.

Hey Guys Yes, its great to be back!!! The weather turned to snow last night, its still hard to get used to having a day in the 60's then snow that night, so here we are!
I'm trying to figure out how to connive my way into a FMS P51B (Shangri La)  I actually have the 1/32 P 51B Monogram model, still in the box, although the plastic is off it, the parts are still sealed in the plastic bags.  The thing has to be 40+ years old!  I just can't bring myself to actually build it as its so rare in its present state.  So, like Ralphie, I'm trying to find the right subtle nuance to trick the wife into getting me a Red Ryder, er ah FMS P51B.

            Greetings GMan,

Perhaps a friend/pilot who also happens to be a Doctor can write you a prescription for the P-51B and say it's required for relief from winter depression and stress............

            I'm just saying......

            Good Luck, Buddy,

You guys are SOOOO bad. My sweetie would never buy into those lines, but I only have myself to blame for all the years of other "stuff" I have fed her on Harley wants. She's been pretty understanding so far since I got back into this a year ago and now have 8 warbirds and SOON to have Waco.

Was reading what Gman  n Rktr were saying , thought I would pee my pants laughing !!! I have to admit I am a very very lucky man . My wife enjoys the 12 yr old kid in me . Watching for the Ups truck , bitching because it's not here . The " what the @&@& does that mean " while putting it together , then waiting for the right day to fly .
Then the Honey do you mind if I buy a few " extra " parts  :D .

Hey Guys! I'm new here and thought I would just jump in. I started this hobby six months ago and it has taken over my life. I no longer have a garage, its a hanger! I find myself looking out the window at work to see how bad the wind is blowing and if I am going to be able to get a flight in when I get off. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me. But then I joined this forum and read through this entire thread. It appears I am not alone in this journey of awesomeness! :D For my Christmas I think it's gonna be the flyzone Beaver

                          Hey Capn Crunch,

Welcome to the forum. You are not alone in this awesome obsession of RC flying! I just started about 2 years ago, and like you, I am constantly looking out the window at work gauging the windspeed, direction, etc, just to see if I could maybe fly that day. Some days when I come in really early, and the wind is calm, some of the guys will be outside and ask me if I will fly a bit in the large quad area behind our building. Of course I have to oblige! I usually have several of the smaller UMX style planes, a Corsair, T28, Mustang, and a couple of others that work perfectly in that area. At least a couple of them have also gotten started into RC after watching and talking with me about the different kinds of planes, quadcopters, and helicopters that are out there now. Everyone is amazed at how quiet they are, how well a small model can fly, and how affordable the hobby has become. It is truly incredible the advances that have been made in our hobby just in the last few years!

Just keep on flying, and enjoying it. We understand!!

Welcome Capn Crunch . You are now a RC JUNKIE !!!!!! The habit gets worse . What til your at your front window with drool hanging from your chin , just listening and looking for the UPS truck to come and stop in front of your home !!!! So happy once you've torn open the outside box but so carefully open the inside box . Looking and just gazing at the box . The whole time your thinking , " what will be my next one " .
Welcome glad to have you here .......

                              Hi guys!!
Great to finally be back.  The PC decided that it was time to change internet service.  Just wouldn't hook up to the net, so I crawled into the old modem and REALLY screwed it up.  Bottom line is we got Dish internet a couple of minutes ago and guess where I was headed straight for??
So, what should we name this disease we all suffer from, as I too am guilty of guaging the wind.  At each coffee break or lunch break, the first thing I do is take a look out the window to see where the wind is at, not to mention the snow.  How many more days of this??
So, maybe thats what I have to do, just say I'm getting some spare 'parts' that just happen to assemble into a whole airplane, which is, a we all know, greater than the sum of the parts, so therefore, I'm saving her money??!!

Its more of an addiction than a hobby. I quit smoking to help fund this habit, but I can't quit smoking enough to be able to afford everything I want! I have unleashed my inner child! Yes Hippie64 I know all about the drool issue when looking for that big beautiful brown truck!

At least I have gained enough experience to where the "crunching" of my planes has tapered off :D So what ever this hobby er uh addiction, disease, habit, affliction is, I don't care....I'm hooked

                                  Greetings Capt.

First off, regardless of the reason, CONGRATULATIONS for having quit smoking!!!! Stay the coures.

There are probably few feelings in this hobby that can compare to the one you get when one day you realize that the time gap between crashes (or, in your case crunches) gets longer and longer and your confident that the now occassional pre-mature landing had little to nothing to do with your flying skills but was due to a failing servo or snapped control surface rod or loss of radio contact........ the things we can't control!!!

Then you begin to also realize.... "Hey, I'm a better pilot!! I need more planes!!"
Now you no longer have a garage, you have a hangar. You park your car in the drive way and you park your planes in the hangar.

You are suddenly consumed and your favorite TV show becomes the daily weatherman's report (and you don't even remember when that started)!

That's it........ You're an RC Hobbyist!!!!   Welcome to the fold!!!!

I know the feeling with the UPS guy. I have his cell number so I can call to make sure he's stopping. He is probably regretting giving me his number lol :D
I was in Cody a couple years ago on a motorcycle trip. Beautiful area you live in. I'm in NW Iowa. Lots of corn fields to fly over. Just don't want to crash in one as its kinda hard to find the plane back!

I hear you, thats where you need a drone to scan the corn fields, or a GPS on the plane.
One of the fellas had that exact thing happen to him a few months back, apparantly walked right underneath it a few times before he found it.
I thought I'd lost P-2 when she lawn darted behind some out buildings.  Don't know exactly what happened after she went out of sight, but we looked for almost an hour before we found her.
Yep, Cody's great, except for the wind.  A friend of ours was kind enough to let us fly on her property right across the street from the Ponderosa Camp ground.  Its in a small gully so I get a little wind blockage, thanks Linda!!!

This is a quick photo of MRC's full page ad in the latest Model Aviator magazine.

I also mentioned that since the new forum format came into play and we became an "open forum" instead of our favorite MRC family forum, I really don't think the MRC guy's visit the forum much any more. I haven't seen them respond to any of the posts directly at them, again since he change.
