  • RE: All us newbie pilots, lets share..

I will say I've been using the Tactic 650 the whole time . I know there are some who say it's cheap or they don't like it . That's fine first off I don't care what they think , second they are not paying for it .
This radio has been completely perfect ! No problems of any kind from it . The rx are very affordable and lots of testing and reviews on them . It also has a 3 position switch . I will be getting the 850 when I'm ready for more channels .

Just my preference is all .

    BTW. MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

I guess I went with spectrum because that's what was in my first trainer plane. Spectrum had good reviews and it worked good for me, so I decided to stick with it. Now I wish I would've skipped the 6 channel and went with a bigger transmitter right away. But at that time I had no idea that I would need 3 way switches, and all the other goodies that comes with it. You learn as you go in this hobby.

When I started this deal, I figured I would buy a plane, fly it, and call it a day.
      Wow was I wrong!!

        Greetings Guy's,

Ok, I'll have to give you guy's props as I forgot about the servo timing feature on some of the DX models.
That is a really nice feature.

I own both Spektrum and Tactic and I like them both.
I'm still shooting for the TTX-850 and will keep searching for a good used DX8.

Either way you go, you win.

Yeah, I hear you Captain, little did we know..........Its almost deja vu, I remember buying my first electric guitar, and second and third and fourth............ and then my first amp and second and third.......... started with Sears gear (who didn't) ended with Fenders and Marshalls.  Its the same thing here, mind you not as expensive by far, but theres always something better or some feature that you didn't know you needed until it hits you between the eyes, then you don't know how you're going to fly without it!!
          Tell me I'm wrong..........

Gman you dog!!   Maybe your wife can talk to mine?   lol
All my efforts and negotiations have failed.
She will not release the hostage under the tree. (a dhc-2 beaver)  Everyday for the last couple weeks, I have to look at
the big box with the little snowman wrapping paper.
Its been nothing short of torture!

They say time goes faster the older you get.
The solution to slow time down...wrap a plane and stick it under a tree lol

                        Hey guys, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Got the DX8 out of the box and watched some videos today to get all the inside scoop.
Its got some pretty cool features that you don't find mentioned elsewhere. Like the little rubber plugs on the back of it that allow you direct access to the screw heads to add the ratcheting to the throttle, you don't have to take the whole back off.  Also, to tighten the play on the sticks, you go under the hand grips, they just peel off and go right back on when you're finished, you don't have to remove them completely, leave the bottoms attached.
I was a little foggy on switch assignments, but got that sorted out, now Pandora One is all set to go, the A3L works on a three way switch :shy:  and the flaps work on one switch :shy: :D .  Also, I installed a 11x9 prop on it (FMS Skymaster prop), so with the FMS 50Amp ESC and this prop, she should hop along quite nicely.  Got to put my new Dremel tool to work on the spinner (Christmas present from my wife ) as you have to customize it a bit.  Revved it up and man she can sure pull now.  Now if the weather would only give me ONE nice day!! Even a couple of hours!!!

                          Hi guys

I hope you all had a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Well I finally got my dhc-2 beaver!  ( sorry that I kept rambling on about it being under the tree)
It flies like your typical high wing and I love it!  It demands a lot of rudder input to fly scale, which is good because I really need to work on my rudder skills. I've got close to 20 flights on it, and have had no issues.  Cross wind landings are very tricky with those big wings as they catch so much air.

They are calling for snow in my area, so the wheels are coming off and the floats are going on. Cant wait to see how it handles in the snow!

                          Have an awesome 2015 everyone!!

Capt Crunch-Glad to hear the DH2 Beaver is working well for you. Looks like a great plane, and I bet with skis, it will really be fun. Keep us posted.

                                        Naw, she wouldn't do that!..........Well.............
Lets see how she does in May when she takes the flight course with me.
She'll probably walk away a better flyer than me!!!! Course she'll need her own planes, hmmmm..
Anyway, I think I mentioned that I ordered in some 11x9 props (from the FMS Cessna182) to put on the Pandoras, Well, P1 has one on now and its definitely a fatter prop with more angle.
So that, combined with the 50A ESC should be interesting! On the left is Pandora 2 with a stock prop and on the left is Pandora 1 with the FMS.  Had to do a fair amount of trimming on the spinner so got to try out the new Dremel Tool, works great.  Also had to remove the pins in the back plate to be able to swing it to a point where the screws could reach the attachment points and not be blocked by the prop.  Disclaimer!!! This is my own idea and I don't intend it to be taken as a legitimate mod, I'm doing it at my own risk, so are you if you try it!
