No mods at all on this one, set it up by the book but tamed the ailerons down a little more.

Put mine together today but just could not leave well enough alone. After getting a watt reading of 250 with the 3S setup, I went ahead and retrofitted a 4S 12blade which I had bench tested earlier this week at 650 watts. That’s a huge upgrade. For $99, I want a cheap rocketship, not a Sunday driver. LOL

Its not a drop in replacement. Far from it. The body of the stock 5b is about 1/3 the length of a std 12 blade motor fan combo and the fuse is specifically designed for it. Had to carve, dremel, sand to enable the 12b fit. PITA but once I started I had to keep going . After a lot of trials, got it installed but it’s still a pretty tight fit.

The bottom cover doesn’t completely close 100% so there’s a small gap that shows. Not a show stopper. Had to tremove some foam from the h-stab in order for the back end of the motor to fit.

Looks like my RT 4S 2200 80C will fit nicely. Will have to pay special attention to cg as the 12b motor fan combo and 80 amp esc add a lot of weight. Not quite there yet.

Why an 80 amp esc you ask ? Had one laying around looking for a new home.

I did manage to goober up the silver paint in a few spots just man handling while installing the new motor / fan. I’ll touch it up later.

Using a new Admiral/ Lemon rx w/ stabilizer. Will have that programmed tomorrow.

    Merry Christmas !

Mine is suppose to come Tuesday, will have to take a day off to enjoy it. Yesterday I was mentally landing it in our tight grassy area should be a fun flyer.

I wonder if the F-8 landing gear set will work on the Thunderchief?

This F-105 is even nicer than the F-8 as it has a full belly skid and a flexible plastic nose cone, it took longer to setup the radio than to build it, fit and finish were perfect. It balances per the manual (365mm from the exhaust nozzle) with an Admiral 3S 1800mAh battery 10mm from the rear of the canopy opening.

I am admiring mine, too. What a gnarly sleek muscular design. I’m thinking FreeWing needs to offer this in 80mm! I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Thanks Man ! So excited to be receiving both the Chief and the Lib for Christmas. Thanks Self ! LOL Want to check out how many watts the stock 3S 5B setup produces. I have a 4S 12B setup waiting in the wings.
Have Callie busy on the B-24 livery and a buddy 3D printing some cockpit parts.

"Under sell and over deliver" is what we try hard to do. These shipping notices are a nice three-day-early-surprise for those who entrusted us with their hard earned holiday dollars three weeks ago. Thank you all, your support is deeply and sincerely appreciated!
