You are correct the new color scheme is in stock but the original scheme is scheduled in the future so I added myself to the "notify when here" list. However I might just be tempted !! We had the new color at the field Saturday and it looked very nice and flew even better, no signs of the bad behavior it is supposed to have at lower thrust/speed levels.

I just ordered mine last night from Grayson! Put two FMS 70mm 1900kv inrunners on order from Bangood today as well as a S8R receiver. Have a crashed Mig21 that I'm canning the servos out of for my Mig 17 and I'm hoping the trailing link struts will fit in the Meteor. I bet the FMS Avanti V3 front strut would work with this as well... Definitely going to paint it, probably going to fill the panel lines in too. I really wish the manufacturers would stop with the damn panel lines...Comment

Welp, the quality of Dynam is... yeah... Tomcat ESCs=good. The landing gear is good. The foam is ok. Not great but ok. Finish is trash but I'm gonna paint it anyway. Wing servo/light connections and how the wings are attached are like if someone who hated RC pilots designed this thing. All the hardware is pretty much trash, the elevator is a disaster the way its linked together, all the servos are analog plastic and all the linkages might as well be guitar strings they are so thin.
Not sure about the motors, I immediately removed them and gave them to a club member who as a 70mm F16 that has crashed so many times its more filler than foam or anything else and the motor is shot. He's gonna see if they work in that... The way the motors are mounted is just a snug fit held in by the foam of the nacelles? Really? When I put the FMS 70mm motors in I made sure they were wedged in there good and also added hot glue to really hold them in place. There is legit really no other way to mount them without major surgery. None of the wires except the throttle and the gear inputs were labeled, the whole wiring is a rat's nest... directions... that was one sheet with 3 pics showing attachment of the elevator and rudder and outboard wings. I could keep going.
That said... it is worth the money you pay for it. The airframe is sound at least and it looks good from 10ft and will look great up close once it gets detailed out and all the issues with it fixed. I have a crashed FW Mig21 I'm cannibalizing to replace all the hardware on this thing and I have an elevator linkage rod from a H9 Hellcat that decided going full throttle=enough stab flutter to completely fail so I can install that which will lock the 2 elevator pieces in place nice and solid. Also going to re-hinge the elevator with the small Robart pin hinges to cut down on the workload of that servo.
What else... I dunno... I'm not sure I'll ever buy a Dynam product again if there is any other option. With the Meteor there isn't... I was kicking around the Dynam ME262 but no way in hell now, I'll pay the extra for the FW. Anyway this is def a large bird, way bigger than I thought it would be. Barely fits in the hatch but it does fit. Had to do a little carving on the hatch but I can get a SMC 8000mah 6S battery in there with good CG so that'll be the way to go. Have yet to maiden but I can see flying nice and slow scale I will be able to get some pretty good flight times out of this thing.
Yeah... Dynam...Comment

Well, I guess you now know. Dynam has always been an "adequate" economy brand that's needs work to fly. Those who buy subsequent Dyman products are prepared for this. Oh, and check those retracts and see if they go intermittent when the temps get below 60F. Have they fixed the ESC stumble yet? If they still rattle on low throttle, you have to do a reset to default factory settings. Good luck. If I had the space, I would have purchased this plane as a winter project. But as it is, what space I've got is for better planes.Comment

I've got 3 Dynam planes. In 2 of the 3 the Detrum ESC blew early on, fortunately while still on the ground. Replaced with Hobbywings. All the Dynam retracts failed, as well as their Dynam replacements, so eventually replaced with Freewing units. The one EDF (the non Gloster Meteor) had a bad fan that rubbed against its housing. Replaced that with an FMS unit.
On the good news side, the prop plane motors and all the servos have all been fine.
The airframes are generally OK.Comment

Yeah I have a cracked up FW Mig 21 so I replaced every single linkage with the balljoints and thicker rods. The beefy elevator connecting rod from the H9 Hellcat worked perfectly, they are locked together now. Also replaced the elevator servo with a FW digital metal one. And to do the install I cut the elevators off and then re-attached them with Foam Tac and also Robart hinges. I will see tomorrow if there is a stutter for the ESCs but on the ground just holding the nose of the plane the motors throttled up and down smoothly. If there is an issue I'll trash them and replace with YEP 100A units.
Also the directions say just screw the stab to the fuse with the 2 screws, that was super flimsy so that's glued now. Also one of the nacelles didn't seem to be glued right so I did that. None of the screws on the plane were tight, they are now. The battery tray hold down is hilariously bad. I tugged lightly on it and it just popped out. Trashed it and replaced with a big balsa tray from an ARF that I ran IC so I didn't need the tray. Epoxied the hell out of it and it's not going anywhere. Um... what else... Like I said the foam structure is good... some work with a 3D printer and a good paint job and now that the powerplants and control surfaces are beefed up I hope it'll be ok. Might need to do the retracts... we'lll see...
Want to paint it in a similar scheme to Icarus, that thing looks fantastic.Comment

Glad to report maiden and 2nd flight went well. I probably would have lost it had I not beefed up the elevator but I did... so all good. Floats in like a trainer. Takes off almost like a STOL plane with the FMS 70mm inrunners and full flaps lol. CG in the factory spot is way too far back. Even at the ESC wire channel it was too far back for me. Got it sorted. 8000mah SMC 6S lipo and flying scale I landed at 5:30 minutes with 54% left. Time for paint and detailing...Comment

Flew it 3 times today. The nose gear I had to take fully apart and put back together... It was not tight and the little jackscrew in there was out of place. It works now but for some reason if the gear is extended whenever I apply power it unlocks and collapses. Cycle it a few times while pulling on the gear manually and it is good again, except it collapsed once while I was taxiing... I have no idea... And I've had a few good solid landings and the nose did not collapse on those. Nothing crazy, this thing is super easy to flare and land smooth.
Tried a 5000mah Roaring Top in it today instead of the 8000mah SMC. Flight time was honestly about the same... except it was way tail heavy, will have to do a little carving and move the battery forward a LOT if I'm gonna go with the 5000. Would def rather a lighter battery and airframe... This thing is not a speed demon and I've found the sweet spot for scale flight is about 1/3 throttle level and goose it a little in the turns if needed. Twin FMS inrunners are very easy on the battery.
This thing REALLY needs a gyro tho... that long tail hanging out there in the back wobbles around a bit. Nothing crazy but its noticeable. Will put one of the A3 gyros I have in it this week and see how it does this coming weekend. If that all goes well I'll start with the filler, sanding, paint and do the panel lines.Comment

I think that in the process of putting the jackscrew back in place, it repositioned that little metal thing that pushes on the trunion (the thing that's got the two prongs on it). It's that prong thing on the trunion that holds the strut in the full up and full down positions. It's not in the right place to do that job.Flew it 3 times today. Tbth I'm about to trash the gear in this thing and install some Hobbyking stuff with trailing links. Pretty much everything for this jet except the foam and the ESCs are crap. The servos are OK... I replaced the elevator servo with a digital all metal geared one and its been good. I posted in RCG but I don't think I did here. The vertical stab where it meets the fuse just came off during a hard landing. I went to flare it and it did not really respond and then whack. The good news... easy repairs, you can barely tell now and will not be able to tell when its all painted up and detailed. But I have had to go through the whole airframe and basically redo it all. All foam hinges replaced with robarts, I already mentioned the elevator rod, I have removed the garbage square rod that links the rudder halves together and used a carbon fiber rod epoxied in to lock them in place. The vertical stab I have re-attached with carbon rods as reinforcements and added longer carbon fiber rods to the wings and glued the hell out of that piece that covers the rod/cables. I have half a mind to do some trimming on the wings and permanently attach them... Its damn near impossible to get the thing in and out of my hatch with the wingtips on though... still...
Oddly enough the nose and main gears held up like a boss. The nose mount actually ripped out a little bit and the nose gear itself is good. So... yeah...Comment

^ Agreed! Dynam is what it is. As some have said about Dynam going out of business. I doubt very much they will. Most people understand what Dynam is all about and will continue to buy their products, knowing that some (maybe a lot) work will need to be done. The price is right for them and they accept what's to come. I've had many Dynam planes over the years, still have 2. I don't regret buying any of them and ALL of them needed work.Comment

Truth. I'm in the middle of overhauling the thing. Like... total overhaul. Gonna run some carbon tubes all the way into the fuse in front of the edfs, I can fly this thing at 1/3 throttle no issue so any loss in performance is not a problem. Pulling and epoxying all the foam underwing panels on where the carbon tube runs, also going to cut some lite ply to fill in the gap between the main wing and the tips. TBTH if I can figure out a way to jenga this thing into my hatch with the wingtips on I'm just gonna glue everything.
Carbon rods from the rear of the fuse up into the vertical stab, I've already fixed the elevator linkage, the rudder tube needs to be trashed and a thicker circular rod installed and glued in so both halves move in unison. Got 3D print files for nacelle inlet rings and exhaust tubes. Want to run some actual bright LED wing lights, the stock ones are lolzy but the wiring will work at least.
I think I have the stock gear good to go... I took apart the nose and re-assembled it and even in the crash landing the nose gear held up. Actually ripped the gear mount out and the gear stayed fully extended lol. Easy enough to glue back in. I got really lucky the failures happened when/where they did. I coulda got a little luckier... another few ft and I probably would have just pancaked it vs smacking it into the edge of the runway where there is a "ledge" that stopped it in its tracks.
I still think this is going to be one of my favorite airplanes and one I ALWAYS bring to any warbird event but it needs some major surgery first...Comment
