    RE: Freewing 90mm F-15C Eagle

USAF pilots used to compete on how long they could hold the nose up, but 'management' put a stop to it when they started scraping the turkey feathers. They did, however, have the speed brake deployed, but the brakes on the wheels weren't used until the last minute.

The first 'Eagle walk' was actually when they rode the column of thrust, carefully varying the left and right engine, to make the bird kind of waddle in, about 20 to 50 feet off the ground. They would then go to full power, and rocket up in front of the viewing area. I actually watched the first time it was done in a show for the generals at EAFB.

McDonnell-Douglas, retired, after 40+ years on the Eagle project.

Spent hours watching the F-15's land. I believe the term the pilots used was "eagle walk". They would brake using the aerodynamics of the wing, not using the brakes until they had to.

    Great stuff urrl!

Have you tried those with the speed brake deployed? It would look like a more scale landing if, right after touchdown, the speed brake came up.

To me yes; the power is "sufficient" for this jet. But more is always better. She lands easier than the F-16 and overall I'd say the characteristics are very good.

Some awesome flying skills there, especially the landings. Do you feel the stock outrunner has sufficient power? It looks like it has plenty. I am awaiting my F-15, any unique flying characteristics I should know???

Really nice job with the flight.  I missed this one as they sold out before I could order.  I will get one with the next batch.

Here's some afterburner lights which were installed at the time of the maiden but they were not hooked up. Stay tuned for a test flight with working afterburner lights.
Nice job Urrl...looking forward to more flight videos of your F-15.

Yes, great maiden flight urrl!  I have to control myself to not jump right to the F-15...The F-86 is on my wish list now. I'm sure soon, i'll pull the trigger...sigh.

Hi Jetlag, these should be on the water in two weeks. From there, delivery to us is *approximately* 5-8 weeks, which varies greatly depending on Chinese and US Customs and other unpredictable shipping factors.
    [hr]
Unofficial preview video is up, it should answer some questions until our pro team gets a model for an official video. Thanks to Tony, Kris, Mark, Ken and Jennifer.

I'll post a comparison video between outrunner and inrunner versions, and also with the new Freewing 8s power system installed, in about two weeks.

    https://youtu.be/8yd-iX0QUu4

There are other videos in that Channel which show landings with the speed brake and show other aspects of the model. I didn't want to end up cutting/editing one massive video.

Nice detail on the augmenter nozzles. The ramps have nice detail with the bypass doors, nicely done. This thing has more "no step" markings than the actual jets I have worked! However it is the "Wing Kings" jet so those jets were clean. Using the flags for the kill markings is a no big deal, same meaning.
