Elbee From the sound of it, it's hard to discern whether she was trying to torture you or torture herself. That's quite the extended campaign. My condolences buddy!

Hah, also looks remarkably like my ex-wife's 3rd divorce attorney. Honestly, 3 different attorneys over 33 months, but whose counting. Best, LB

Aros, Sounds like you got it noodled, but this seems to be more than just a screw choice, though pan head screws would be what I'd swap out if I were in your position.

Note: I bit the bullet and ordered M4 x 3mm headless grub screws on Amazium.Prim where a bag of 50 pieces is less than $7.00 USD.

I am using those on the Corsair gear struts and have had those off about a 100 times so far with no wear or tear on the head.

BONUS: When I drop one and it bounces, I find it later rather than sooner.

Well Captain Dunce reporting...I examined the wings and discovered alas, I apparently did NOT install the center 16mm screws! Good lord. How on earth I missed that is beyond me! I would swear up and down I installed all 6 screws for the wings. Regardless they were missing on both wings. Mystery solved.

I did go to screw them in and one of them started to tighten but just keeps spinning and won't tighten completely. The other won't tighten at all. Perhaps from the two flights the pin slightly bent? I'll have to investigate but I have to say I am not a big fan of allen screws. I'm thinking of getting regular screws at the same size. Thoughts?

I see people driving on the highway with those tiny spare tires too. Fine.

The connector issue: They connect perfectly fine. Yes a quick spark but other than that there was no resistance, no issue. It's funny how some people will claim it's stupid and others will say it's fine in a pinch. I've heard both sides. I will simply say it may not have been the smartest choice but in the end it did just fine. However, clearly it was a very temporary solution.

Now the WING issue is the real conundrum. I need to get to the bottom of that before ANY other flight ensues.

I still use T connectors on most of my planes

Good points all. I’d like to add that with a huge number of connect/disconnect operations, the screen on the right side type evaporates. Each tiny connection spark blows away screen material. Eventually, the spring screen totally fails. These types of connectors should be routinely inspected with a bright light.

While not without issues, I have changed all my EDFs over to the split barrel type. I have had 2 spring/screen connectors end up with disintegrated spring screens. Luckily found before flight on one and by a post flight bubble of melted plastic connector on another.

I’ve seen the wood screw example as well as people cutting off the mismatched adapters, twisting the wires together and putting some tape on it and fly… seen some other bad practices too.

I think Aros was lucky between the wings not being on right and the connectors… be interesting to find out what was going on with the wings.

The one on the left is what he’s saying to spread and yes I guess if you did it would make a connection but it’s just not designed to be used that way. I can’t believe a professor actual even suggested it. What’s next, missing that machine screw to hold your wings on, use a wood screw, it’s close enough?

Considering that many people just plug the EC into the XT without doing anything whatsoever to improve the fit, I think my "in a pinch" suggestion is a safer way to go. I realize the USN wouldn't approve. I didn't suggest it as a permanent solution.

But you are correct, you SHOULD either change one or the other, or use an adapter (and I have seen some very flaky adapters too).
