Well she’s ready to fly just need the weather to cooperate blowing a good 30mph here today hopefully later or tomorrow the winds will die down. All I need to do is to add the battery strap that won’t take but a few moments, plan on trying her with a Spektrum 2200 100c and also a SMC 2600 80c pack. Did receive new ESC with reverse that’s good to 6s so it’s possible to get a 6s battery if it flies on 4s good enough

Sure was 🤐 thrust is amazing the thing just rips however I made a big time rookie mistake and forgot to reverse the elevators so I’m sure you can figure out what happened. Airframe is toast I don’t feel like repairing it so I just ordered another complete 64 F16. Installed the 60amp Skywalker ESC last night in my black F16 she’s gonna be my new test mule. Was able to program the reverse thrust function on it used sticks but not bad after watching a video. Going to fly her with the upgrade 60amp ESC first seems to have more throttle bench testing then I’m going to convert over to the 70mm EDF. It sounded amazing 70mm EDF couldn’t believe how much more thrust it had on the ground. This conversion should be easier since the only thing needed is the install the 70 EDF

shortround91 I've done it but with a reversed gyro on my ailerons. My mind couldn't catch up fast enough to stop myself from chopping the throttle in confusion, and then helplessly watch the stall spin.

Ok guys 70mm revamped into the F16 64 throwing the Skywalker 60amp V2 in for Reverse. I reshaped how I did this one set it deeper into the airframe took more time smoothing the thrust tube area out. I do need to reconnect an aileron she will be up hopefully in just a few more days with updates once again. I’ll add some more pic shortly of how I did the EDF install this time much different than before should be a lot more secured. Happy Holidays all

I start with a dremel reinforced cut off wheel to get my general shape which is to cone from the EDF going about half way outward. After my basic shape I swap to a large sanding wheel just to smooth a little more followed by 120grit dry sandpaper. I’ll remove the EDF and take some shots to show how it looks I do both sides post and aft attempting to allow more undisturbed intake exit flow. I have also minwax clear coated the inside cone that actually made a big change in sound which is amazing

Here are a couple of pics of the tube area the sand paper just gradually breaks the foam down adding the clear coat then hardens the foam back up. Hopefully since we have rain today I can get this wing servo hooked back up install the Skywalker 60amp V2 ESC finish the EDF wire up and have it ready to fly

Well success finally it is definitely faster the sound is soooo much better than the 64 non of the motor whine that’s normally heard. I am going to remove the second battery try to lighten up the front end only one flight so far managed 5 minutes ( not on purpose) with 10% left in a SMC 2600 pack. Had a few cars going by every approach I made think 3:30-4 flying mix will be just fine. I would like to do 2 small cheater grills in the top just to see if it makes any more difference. Will have my wife do a video for me this week and try to post here so far very happy actually think the next step is a 70mm 6s EDF just for general test purposes. Have a great day everyone happy flying

Think I’d like a fresh airframe that I haven’t done multiple repairs on for weight savings she’s actually nose heavy. Just removed the second battery tray assembly from the nose waiting on another battery to charge been raining I had them on storage. 7 more percent and up and away I go again hopefully some better news

I was wondering if you used a 70mm sized sanding drum. Something I've considered a few times, specifically for the F35 to go to 80mm. But as much as I'd really like an 80mm Lightning, what I really want is a 90mm, so they better make one!
And just to ask, if you're thinking of getting a new 64mm and converting it, why not just get the new 70mm F16? The V1 flies great, I can only imagine the V2 is better!
You could even pull the gear and hand launch it.

I have 2 64’s one virgin new with probably 40 flights on it now then the black I am using for a test mule. I’m not sure if you guys have seen it yet but something just caught my eye and it’s the Freewing L-15 64mm factory 4 with reverse or 6s without. Has very nice landing gear unfortunately not retracts but still pretty awesome so I’m planning on buying it once available here in the US and the Freewing 70mm F16 I love doing Alpha flights along with loving the F16 looks

I did see a video of the L15. It intrigues me. I like the 64s. Anything to rip around with some level of disregard for consequences seems to call to me. I have a couple of 64mm projects in mind already, hopefully Motion will keep stock in those, but I look forward to seeing the L15 hit the US.
BTW, the Yak is definitely worth the while too!

Killer I have watched a view videos of them also like you I enjoy flying the ones without much worry if the inevitable crash happens. Much easier to replace a $200 area plane than a 500$ plus, I’ve also been interested in the Banana Honby Gripen something about Canards just calls to me 70mm 6s retracts all sounds like a good time to me
