Seeing this video got me very enthusiastic:
Might have even better performance with the retracts removed (if I can catch it by the nose). I decided to order one from AliExpress. Hope to have it in a couple weeks, tariff free and low/no brokerage fee.

The two gyro modes that it comes with are simply basic gyro (not heading hold) and off. The gyro has different modes available if you get their programmer.

I found this video from Freewing that was illuminating. It's for Futaba but the principles should be the same. Near the end of the video, the guy goes through the process to make this plane work on 8-10 channels. You don't have to do everything he shows but it gives you the gist of what needs to be done. Don't worry, it's English dubbed.Originally posted by Fast N Light View PostI have a NIB Spektrum AR10100T Rx and an iX14 Tx. Is there a way to make this 10Ch Rx work with 8S Ares and OEM gyros?
Don't need thrust reverse for landings... Willing to use an AG61 nose wheel steering gyro if that helps.

What are the gyro modes that I would be missing? Guessing there is a 'heading hold' being used in the promo videos which are rich in low altitude hovering....Originally posted by Evan D View PostSure don’t plug in the gyros modes or sensitivity and let them default. As far as I know all the orange are pretty much unobtainium. I have maybe 60-65 of them and buy them here when they come up. I fly a NX20… I refuse to pay what Spek wants for their receivers but have a few of them too. I don’t do telemetry and have very few planes with gyros so the Orange do me well. I thought about a Spek 14ch for this but I’m happy with it as set up.
So far my issues have been the ESC going out on flight five and chasing centering on the TV so it doesn’t pitch up or down with throttle.
It doesn’t flat spin or flip like I want but otherwise flies very well.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like the 12 channel orange receiver is discontinued now. Biggest one available out there now is 10 channel for spectrum radios. Have an IX20 so transmitter is not the issue just having to find a big enough receiver that will fit in the bird.

Spektrum? Two channels are gyro mode and sensitivity. If you can get a ten channel receiver with virtual channels for those and Y the ailerons you have it.
I have a 12ch Orange and Y’s the ailerons.

Can someone tell everyone where you can get a 13 channel receiver they recommend? Or how you set it up on the shop model. The biggest standard receiver I can find is 10 channel. Anything above that is a power save receiver.

Well, of course you have to figure out how to adapt what you have. If you have a single 8S pack with a EC5 you are good to go unless you want to add an anti-spark. Most need some adapter or better yet solder on what you need. I use T connectors so I'll be cutting and soldering on a series set of T's plus an anti-spark. I have my series and anti-spark made up and ready to install tomorrow. And the same in my F-16.

OK, I see that the adapter is needed. Didn't read far enough. Getting in a hurry to place order with batteries...lol

Is an EC5 2 to 1 Series Adapter to plug in the batteries needed for the 8S version.

Yes, two of them. One for flight surfaces and one for the TV. Have you looked at the description on Motion? Have you down loaded the instruction manual, also available at Motion?

Want to order one. I have one question. Does this come with the gyros?
Thanks...
