    That puts it very well

Thanks, guys. I do have the Bluebridge, so I'm sure it'll all make sense.

Pretty quiet in here but lots of recent stuff in the other forum. I'm having second thoughts about this plane. The only reason I wanted this in the first place is the hovering and it's been said that this plane doesn't really do it that very well anyway (at least now with me on the sticks - Jon and Seth are "pros" and they make it look easy). I'm at 3200' altitude, so perhaps the hovering ability would be somewhat dampened. I've owned a couple of Avanti before and I got bored with them very quickly. Aside from the "tricks", the Ares may just get boring for me, too.
Now beginning to take note of what people (Jon @ 2Bros for one) have said when comparing this to the MiG29. My interest in the MiG has peaked. I had the original MiG29 that I added the TV and it was quite entertaining but underpowered. The current version appears to have much more power and the newer red/white livery is more visible. Since it won't actually hover, perhaps only 1 gyro will do. RCC will have their new stock on both planes about the last quarter of November. Ares is still on the list but maybe for next spring. These are very pricey models and wishy-washy, I be.

I caved. Should be showing up at my front door in the next couple of hrs. Decided to get one of the remaining units from MotionRC even though it cost about 150 bucks more, but what the heck, I do like to support a good company. Maybe it'll bring some of that Florida sunshine to our rapidly diminishing fall. The MiG29 will be a Xmas gift to myself.

I think I'll like it too. Taking it out of the box, I'm really surprised (pleasantly so) at just how big this plane is (comparing it to my old 80mm Avanti S). The wife even exclaimed, "Holy crap, that's a big box"!
I've been watching all the YouTube vids on the set up and the one I saw from Freewing Model is of particular interest and relevance to me. I'll also give due consideration to some elements of 2 Bros and M&M Dynamics plus things I've seen on both forums threads. It's starting to make sense to me now. I've got my old SebArt MiG29 to practice and limber up on.

Got it all put together and programmed. Just waiting for a "warmish" day before the snow comes (frozen fingers syndrome) to maiden it. I'm trying something a little different. I've "Y'd" AIL to FLAP on each side, reversed one flap so it moves the same way as the mated AIL. I have full span ailerons and flaperons (low flap deflection). ELE nozzle Y'd to ELE, RUD nozzle Y'd to RUD. Have enough left over for reverse with one to spare (10-ch Lemon). Did the Bluebridge programming as per the Freewing YouTube set up video. Maxed out the nozzle as per Jon (2 Bros), dialed in lower rates for normal flying and put the gain on a slider. "Seems" to all work but proof will be in the air. Like the steering gyro but it would be nice if it didn't work the steering when retracted (like the ASSAN).

I recently reduced travel in my TV and am much happier with spins and flips, more controllable and less snappy.

Interesting! I'll keep that in mind.

Maidened today. First was a trimming flight. Found I needed to reduce rates dramatically on AIL and ELE and increased expo on both. Flew well as a "normal" jet (on low gains). Hovered up high (too chicken to do it low). Everyone was amazed at how rock steady it was as it just hung there in one spot (gains maxed as per Freewing set up video). Lands fast without flaps. Slows down nicely when landing high alpha but was a bit bouncy for me. Need practice. Will try hovering lower and lower as I get more confident. Didn't do any flips and spins yet. Snow coming soon.
