Flying the little E-flite Cub today, sustained 25mph wind with gusts up to 40mph...I really like flying in high wind, with the right plane it's really fun.Leave a comment:

I'm with Charlie, I do all the paint and detailing before maidening, it's more than half the fun. I think the only one that hasn't been through the paint booth is the Avanti but even she has clear coats on her.

Thanks guys. A flight video is part of the plan. Having to deal more with the weather now.Leave a comment:

If it were released in a Blue Angels color scheme and at least had a nose door and a lighting package, I may thought about purchasing the A-4 . Excellent job on all the modifications Steve.Leave a comment:

10 years ago we built a house and to save money I worked out a deal with the builder where I would do the trim and door painting. We moved in before it all got done and it is still not done to this day. I can understand the caution to pour a lot of work into a plane before making sure it is air worthy and all but I have had very good success with maidens in general and I personally am less likely to finish a plane once I start flying it.Always enjoy watching what you do Steve in getting yours birds looking the part before you maiden.
That is exactly what I do..........Purdy them up and then maiden them in their glory.;)
I always get a chuckle over the nervous ones saying maiden them before spending all that time detailing.:P
Nonsense......damn those torpedoes and full steam ahead LOLLeave a comment:

Sadly, I was at their last show with the Skyhawk at Niagra Falls. The opposing solos had a midair collision and one pilot was killed. I don't think they performed again until they received the F/A-18.
Thank you sir! I think you are right on the gear doors. They really do improve its appearance. For all the trouble they have been I am glad I gave them a try. I can see that 3D printed doors could be much easier to deal with if someone were to make them. I am going to a Hangar Day event at TIGRB's tomorrow and plan to get the intakes painted white and the graphics on it there. That will really set it off. The only graphic that I am waiting on is the MD logo. Initially I could never find a clear enough image to determine the Skyhawk II on it so I just ordered the logo without it. Later I found a good image so she is making them for me now with the Skyhawk II. After the graphics are done it will get a clear coat of Krylon Acrylic Clear Gloss. I am doing a 1980 #6 which is as close as I can get to the planes that did an airshow in my hometown.Leave a comment:
