I finished up the Dynam ME-109 and maidened it today. What a treat! The larger planes really do fly easier than the little ones! Up until now, almost all of my planes were 1100mm or smaller, and while they fly well, they just can't be compared to these larger planes with 50"+ wingspans, especially if there is any wind at all! The only thing I still need to work on with the 109 is to increase the rake of the gear. It has a tendency to want to tip on the grass, but once in the air...WOW! Very stable and surprising easy to fly. I did intentionally take up high and stall it, and it will slow down to just a creep, but will drop a wing tip if provoked. I am flying it with the Orange HK 6 channel rx that has a 3 axis gyro built in, so that no doubt helps the stability. The gains are turned down pretty low, but I am happy with the performance, so I doubt I will mess with them.
The ME-109 simply looks awesome in the air, and on those fast, low fly-bys. Plenty of power, very responsive, loops, rolls, inverted, any of your favorite warbird moves are a piece of cake for this Messerschmitt. Landings are not bad at all, come in with a bit of power, maybe 1/4 throttle, kind of feather it and she settles in, and it will sit right down on the mains and roll out.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the quality of the kit, the ease of assembly, and certainly its flight characteristics. I think it is a very well engineered kit, especially for the price. I held off building this one for about a year while I practiced and got more experience and confidence in flying. Certainly not a beginner plane, but an easy intermediate plane, and if you have any low wing warbird experience, this one won't be a problem to fly. I would highly recommend it if you are on the fence about it!
