Good to know that it will move along fine when loaded with floats with the non-discript motor..........thanx Jerry
HH should correct their bogus vid on the motor before they get blow back from someone for false advertising :P I oughta make them send me a Eflite Motor 10 ;)LOL:Not-Talking:

I just bought a new Flyzone Turbo Beaver. The glue that was holding the exhaust pipes in the cowl let go when I unpacked that, but everything else seemed good. It's basically not unlike the other Flyzone Beavers except the Vertical Stab/Rudder has a couple of weights glued on because the motor now hangs out farther than the old radial model. I have included a photo of a real red beaver that was "converted " to a turboprop. Basically an old radial that was removed and the new engine and cowl mounted. But, it uses the old, smaller and roundish vertical stab/rudder like the Flyzone model. The real Turbo Beaver shown in white here, has a bigger and squarish vertical stab/rudder. That is really the correct design for this plane. I guess Flyzone used what was in the parts bin....Just sayin'...

On the money Airhead............ For the rounded tail the correct designation is a DHC-2 MK1 Turbo.
If HH had Alpha leading the Dev team this misnomer of the model name wouldn't have occurred.;)

Since the sun was kinda out today and there was no wind, decided to ring out the beaver. Really like the way it flies. Today was the first time on hard surface, and the foam tires really like to bounce. Might have to change them out for low bounce Du bros. It seems to be a bit tail heavy and had to run full down trim. So it will either be lead in the nose or rubber tires or both.

Ok guys, the book says 2200 3S but I always go as large capacity as I can squeeze in.
Will the Admiral 2600 which is 10mm longer than the 2200 fit ??
It has been almost 90 days since I flew last and so I got to get a couple inexpensive 3S and assemble this bird and go have some fun.
To heck with where I'll store it for the time being.LOL

Hey, I have owned a few of these radial Beavers. (Same air frame) and a 2200 is tight, but I think you might squeeze a 2600 in there... It will be close!!! Enjoy! They are usually way out of aileron trim, so be ready!!! ;)

Yeah I'll second that on the aileron trim...

We got fresh powder this weekend, so I installed skis on the beaver. Time to take it out.

I know it's not the Turbo but thought I'd add a little inspiration. I had my DHC-2 out this past Sunday while it was snowing
Just don't tell anyone I was taking off behind the flight line! (for some strange reason I was the only one there! :Silly:)

                                Check your floats!

                                Not my Turbo Beaver, but:
Flying the Maule off the snow this morning on the second flight the left float broke loose from it’s front mount. So it was in a climbing left turn, float hanging from the rear mount. I raised the flaps (from take off position) and gave full right aileron, rudder and down elevator. Then I knew I was in big trouble as by now it had crossed the creek and tree line behind my house. After a lot of throttle nursing I got it down on my side of the creek and trees. At 3 feet over the snow I gave full flaps and cut the power. I don’t know why the float broke loose from the front mount, although not much glue residue was on the foam or plastic. Nothing on the float showed any sign of striking anything on take off. I have not had any hard landings and this was the 5th flight with the new floats. Floats on the snow have so little resistance this would seem like an unlikely event. So beware! Another item to add to the check list.

Only flew the beaver once, i need a larger set of skis. Takeoffs were fine but they sank in to much on landing and it kept nosing over. If we had more snow I'd put the floats on it. The Eflite Clip wing Cub did fine on the snow.

Are they the 7" Dubros?? I ordered the 9" for my Turbo Beaver (Motion just shipped today :)along with it's 2 batts) speculating that they'd be a better size for a 60"w/s bird.
Just in time for the possible 2 ft of snow to arrive this weekend.LOL

I've had a couple of the standard FZ Beavers. One I keep on floats for summer flying the other I have wheels and skis for year round flying. I really like flying mine from snow. I think these are really underrated models.

So today it's been another 90 days since any stick time and I'm sooooo looking forward to getting this bird together and flying it off the coming snow in the stock civvy bird feathers.
But after I get the itch scratched then it is gonna get the warbird treatment.............am liking your livery WV.

Yeah I had the 7", ordered the 9" this evening. They'll be here Saturday, just in time for another 2" of snow. It was my first time flying off the snow, lots of fun. Cant wait till spring to put the beaver on its floats.
