      • And video of the same flight taken from the ground by a friend. So this is my first true EDF jet with jet-like flying characteristics, big, fast, heavy wing-loading, and requiring large airspace to maneuver. And I am hooked. Looking forward to getting many of Motion RC/Freewing's latest and greatest EDF offerings... cheers!

          • Nice jet EDF video, one quick tip, when recording open space like it is in this case, its better to set the focus and then switch to manual focus.

After about 30 ft, everything else falls under infinite focusing ∞ as it can be seen that the jet and its surroundings are in focus. Focusing gets lost when its looking for sharp edges in the clouds.

This applies to wide angle shots, on telephoto is another deal, which instead of looking for the object to focus, just focus and let the object get in that sharp zone window.

            • Thanks for the compliment and camera pointers. Will let my friend that videoed the flight know....

              • Well, this model was very disappointing. I couldn't get more than 5-6 flights without something failing. (Usually retracts, but had issues with the motor, esc, multiple servos and the wing fold mechanism). There's a lot of videos of the wings folding in flight online too. Shame, it's a great looking plane and cool concept, but I can't recommend this one... Vid came out ok though.

How about a nice 1600 plus sized corsair next please flightline/motion???

Ps: there's a part 2 to this vid on my YouTube, shows some in flight footage of just one of my many retract failures and subsequent "landing"...

I think that still counts as a "pay it forward"!

Love your videos and nice greaser Shirty!

I too owned this model years ago. Of course as a Corsair Junky the folding wing mech sucked me in, quality-be-damned! I still have nightmares over the retracts and all the various electronics and part failures. Not to mention trying to deal with Banana Hobby's CS back then was beyond aggravating (I'm being kind). Typical LX model. Beautiful on the outside, pure junk on the inside.

                              • I fly at the foot of Bear Butte in the beautiful Black Hills of SD. The advantages are, you can fly alone and there are hundreds of acres. The disadvantages are my field doubles as a bison pasture so it is not very smooth. I have not had much luck with tail draggers other than my Timber and my Commander fitted with 3" wheels.
